Balcatta Bike Force Ride - with a bit extra.
This ride has got a lot faster over the last few months, so I was hoping to hold on. Thats the way it was for all the way, just able to to hold on mostly at the back and no work at the front. Early, a couple of times I almost got dropped out the back on small hills. I seemed to have lost a bit of power with the two week lay off overseas. I did get burnt out on the hill before Ocean beach turn off, when the guys in front decided to get competitive on the climb. Fortunately they waited for me to then do it again on the climb out of Scarbourough Beach Road. By that stage I was fully cooked and had to amble (at 30kph) to the coffee shop. Our route had to be changed due to a triathlon at Cottesloe.
Feeling a bit guilty for making the smoke haze an excuse for not doing more during the week I decide after the coffee break to do an extra 25k by going north up the coast to Shenton Avenue. Returning down Marmion required nerves of steel as the road shoulder here is not that wide.
Considering traffic lights a very good average speed in the end
