Hockey 1:10:00 [4]

Game 5 against WA Country. Always a hard game against these guys as most carry a chip on their shoulders. Some of them missed out on the city team selection. Despite the non contact sport some "football" style tackles were evident. It was not a pretty game with a lot of tiredness evident after yesterdays super game. Ended up 3-0 in our favour. This leaves the top of the table clash against NSW on Wednesday as the last game in the round robin before the finals

Game four against ACT. First five minutes we looked sluggish until we scored. Then we opened the game up with some of the best team hockey I have played in. We were 6-0 up at half time and 10-0 at the end. I had a blinder scoring 3 goals each as a one on one with the goalie. I was however overshadowed by another player who scored 5.

Game three against a combined Tas/SA side at 5.30pm. Interesting time with the base of the One direction concert on the right and crowds streaming to the Olympic stadium for an ARL final on the left. As far as our game goes it was tight initially. I was complimented by a very close tag whose tactics were quite dubious. We eventually broke through with2-0 at half time, finishing at 3-0. I ended up playing the swing man on 4 different positions providing rest periods for others.

Early morning start (8:30) against queensland who unfortunately for us had a bye the previous day and were very fresh. This has to be a conspiracy by the organising state who are our biggest rivals. The game was tough with the queensland side giving us no room to manoeuvre. Overenthusiasm (or was it annoyance that I got beaten) led to a green card and compulsory 2min rest in the first half. Nil all at half time and the tight game continued until I scored an easy goal from a brilliant cross across the goals. From then on things opened out and became easier and we scored another goal to completely deflate Qld. The umpiring was officious with 4 green cards and one yellow handed to us. An unusually high count. 2 rest (tourist) days coming up.

First game of the carnival against Victoria - a hard game was expected. The first minute set the tone for the game with pressure from us forcing a turnover and then scoring a goal from our first short corner. Final score of 6-1 our way was a true reflection of the game.
