Cycling 2:55:00 [4] 77.0 km (26.4 kph)

Joined the alternate Frogs to ride round the river. Northerly felt good early but paid for it later on as the wind increased before the front. Still only just keeping up, although improved on 2 weeks ago. On the way back had the strange phenomena of the wind changing direction to SW just as I crossed Scarborough Beach Road. Unfortunately I was 3km short of home when the rain hit so got drenched before I got to the front door.

MTB 45:00 [3] 5.74 km (7.7 kph)

Used the MTB to get to the mapping area and return Found myself to be very rusty. The fire trail had also recently been graded so was too soft on the steeper sections.

Mapping 4:20:00 [1] 5.59 km (46:31 / km)

Finishing Bells Rapids
- seemed to be very efficient today with a clear head.

Cycling 1:28:33 [4] 41.02 km (27.8 kph)

A not so windy morning for a change. After I warmed up the ride up the coast was the fastest for a long time (with the help of a tail wind). The south westerly Wind seemed to be strongest on the coast so part of my return was inland.

Mapping 5:40:00 [2] 8.5 km (40:00 / km)

Mapping Bells Rapids area. Some runnable and steep areas.

Cycling 3:03:49 intensity: (45:00 @3) + (1:48:49 @4) + (30:00 @5) 75.67 km (24.7 kph)

Struggle street as I head out east against the wind on Beach road. Less traffic than Read Hwy but no bike lane in the early part. Passed patches of wet road but missed the main shower. The ride down West Swan road was magic with the wind behind and ended too quickly in Guilford. Met up with the Frogs for coffee. Ambled back to Perth along the river. Then home against the wind (inevitable wind change).

Hockey 1:40:00 [4]

Extra games filling in

Tuesday Nov 19, 2013 #

Cycling 2:00:20 [4] 50.1 km (25.0 kph)

Howling wind this morning delayed my start as I waited for it to warm up. The fierceness of the wind forced me to the bike path to hide behind the sparse vegetation instead of the usual Reed Hwy wind tunnel. Head wind all the way to Kensington for a meeting. The return with the wind now behind was easier but somehow unfulfilling.

Finish of Percy Doyle reserve mapping

Friday Nov 15, 2013 #

Cycling 2:52:45 [4] 75.2 km (26.1 kph)

The aim was to catch up with Lost_Richard at the Narrows. However as soon as I turned east into Read Hwy I wished I had stayed in bed. A very strong easterly and residual soreness made the journey harder than I wanted. Good ride with Richard doing most of the leading. I hit a number of flat patches, particularly at the 50km mark. Coffee in Swanbourne with other O people. Ride home with a dreadful crosswind

Mapping 2:00:00 [1]

Mapping Percy Doyle Reserve. Surprisingly Complex

Hockey 1:45:00 [4]

For some reason many missed todays session so I filled in for two extra games. I payed for it the next day with soreness.

Monday Nov 11, 2013 #

Cycling 1:18:00 [3] 33.15 km (25.5 kph)

A loosener after yesterday with a short trip to Subiaco and coffee and back home. Noted along the shores of Lake Monger along with the prams a tall lanky tired looking jogger who turned out to be Dean Cox doing his own pre-season training.

Sunday Nov 10, 2013 #

Cycling 3:51:50 intensity: (2:21:50 @3) + (1:30:00 @4) 87.86 km (22.7 kph)

Out early straight into a strong headwind which lowered speeds from normal by 8km/h. The target was Bayswater which was the start of a CTAWA ride around Forrestfield. A pleasantly paced ride with some moderate hills around the base of the scarp. Some waiting for some of the underdone riders stretched out the time. Very warm as I headed home after the ride and my mood not helped by a blow out after riding over an unknown object. Tired and dehydrated towards the end, so saved 10km by catching the train. GPS not turned on a couple of legs.

Friday Nov 8, 2013 #

Cycling 2:43:00 [4] 73.9 km (27.2 kph)

Round the river starting from the northern suburbs, clockwise. Hoping to get favourable winds. It seemed to work on the northerly final leg with a gentle tail wind.

Mapping 6:58:00 [1] 8.8 km (47:30 / km) +255m 41:29 / km

Finishing of Bells Rapids Map. Survived without a car breakin.

Monday Nov 4, 2013 #

Cycling 1:55:20 [4] 51.26 km (26.7 kph)

Solid ride up the coast at a god average speed despite the occasional headwind. Return via the light industrial suburb of Wangara. Much slower second half with hills, fatigue and a sea breeze playing a part

Saturday Nov 2, 2013 #

Mapping 4:30:00 [2] 7.6 km (35:32 / km) +330m 29:11 / km

Filling in gaps on the Bells Rapid Map. After more than 24mths not mapping it took some adjustment. Locating features on a slope with not much contour information required some careful mapping.

Friday Nov 1, 2013 #

Cycling 2:57:10 intensity: (22:00 @3) + (2:35:10 @4) 72.91 km (24.7 kph) +372m

Round the river to join up with the Frogs at the South Perth Boatshed. Not an ideal route choice heading straight into the wind along the exposed coast line for 25km. From there to South Perth still got sections of headwind with the wind seeming to change to more south westerly. Muffin was good at the café. On the return felt the last 10km as there was not much in reserve. Tough ride but I am glad I got of my backside to do it.
