MTB 2:57:00 [2] 42.1 km (14.3 kph) +386m

Railway Heritage trail with Jennyk. Apart from a few downhill sprints a very very gentle ride. Saw a boltboi lookalike heading in the opposite direction

Cycling 1:28:02 [4] 40.8 km (27.8 kph) +172m

Good temperature for a ride but the wind seemed to be against me most of the time. Lots of others out there as well but they obviously got up earlier than I did.

Cycling 2:15:30 [3] 59.13 km (26.2 kph)

Another day with gusty fluky winds making it feel like it is against you all the time or was that just fatigue from yesterday?

Cycling 1:25:46 [4] 40.2 km (28.1 kph) +183m

Felt tired to start with. There was a southerly which did not seem to be moving the vegetation but it sure made a difference in attitude and speed with the 15k heading north averaging over 30 without pushing too hard. Payed for it on the way back of course

Orienteering (Quarry road H2 Course) 1:25:31 [4] 6.5 km (4.6 kph)

Big mistake (10m+) on the first control overshooting and well left. Subsequent smaller mistakes. Well set course by Shotrat . Very hard to see the 1:15,000 map for older eyes even with glasses. (Contour and creek detail in areas of green

Cycling 1:41:07 [3] 44.73 km (26.5 kph)

One of those days whre the wind seems to be against you no matter which way you turn. Coffeee and Macaroons at suger and spice in Joondalup.

Cycling 1:41:55 intensity: (41:00 @3) + (1:00:55 @4) 44.4 km (26.1 kph)

Circiut - to cottesloe to Subiaco to do some chores and return north up freeway. Of note on the way - the crush of white haired people getting of the train at the showgrounds (caravan and camping show) and the noticable deteriation of the bike path since I last rode it.

Cycling 1:28:05 [4] 40.1 km (27.3 kph)

Tale of two directions, against the wind and feeling like crap and then with the wind and feeling good and powering up the hills

Cycling (CTAWA 5000 in 4 ride) 2:26:43 [4] 55.67 km (22.8 kph) +915m

The aim is to complete 5000ft of climb in under 4 hours. This is done by combining 3 longish climbs up the scarp. The first up Brookton and Churchmans brook, the scond up Albany Highway and the third up the remaining section of Brookton Highway and Chevin Road. Kept to a steady pace and was fine till towards the end of the last climb where an energy gel was required to get me over the top. Some good downhill legs, although down towards Canning dam was scarry with the uneven and rough surface.

Orienteering (Long sprint) 32:20 [4] 3.8 km (7.1 kph)

Sprint race - Not expecting too much as this is my first run since January. Legs like lead to start with. Then steady from then on no real technical challenges

Friday Mar 15, 2013 #

Cycling 3:23:02 [4] 93.5 km (27.6 kph) +434m

Headed south tentitavely - still some wet patches on the road. Did not want to repeat last weeks carpet burns. No initial definative plan except to ending up at the FROGs coffee place at the same time. So the final route ended up with a few odd loops to get the timing right. Dalkeith to Raffles swapped front wheels with a guy training for triathrons. His mission to do 2 45k Freo to narrows loops . I left him to do the mt Henry loop as an extra loop. Meet the Frogs at Heathcote whose normal cafe was closed mid week and therefore you are made to beg for a takeaway coffee next door.

Good ride home with a tailwind. Still beat jennyk home even though she had the car for the Cott to Carine leg

Cycling 1:27:08 [3] 37.26 km (25.7 kph) +220m

Quite unpleasant riding south into the cold south easterly, so head north then inland hoping for a less windy ride

Sunday Mar 10, 2013 #

Cycling 2:20:42 [3] 66.37 km (28.3 kph) +321m

Drive to Kelmscott for a CTA hills ride but I am a week out! Compensated by some coastal riding

Friday Mar 8, 2013 #

Cycling 2:21:10 [4] 61.3 km (26.1 kph) +373m

Started out tired and sluggish and continued that way except for a few kms around Mounts Bay where I sat on the tail of a youngster at over 40k/h. I lost him when he pushed it to over 42. Stopped for a coffee at Floriet Beach but scared of by the noise of dozens of women. International Womens day apparently.

Cycling 1:36:12 [3] 43.9 km (27.4 kph) +227m

Started out as a leg lossener with a few rare sections at normal pace. Supposed to be bike counting day but I did not see one. Sleeping in may have had something to do with it. Circiut via swanbourne and Floriet. Drizzle towards the end and made a mental note to slow down at the roundabout near Trigg. Not slow enough as I hit the deck. the surface was so oily that a ute lost traction of the back wheels in the same place. Fortunately only a minor scrape.

MTB (Karri Cup 50k) 2:51:41 [4] 48.4 km (16.9 kph) +837m

Some how got put into one of the later start groups on the 50km and paid for it on the early single track section. Therre were many people who blocked the path as they could not manage some of the technical parts of the track. (A lot of time lost here). I believe tricky had the same problem. After that proceeded without any major issues, even climbing all the steeper hills with gears to spare passing many people who were walking. On the first leg with 5km to go saw the unfortunate ken post who was walking to the next rest stop as he had a flat on his tubeless back tyre. Not being able to help I proceeded on to the Boorara tree. No incidents on the second leg to the finish and felt very good.

Finish 2nd in the Masters( over50) category by 30secs and rue the early part of the race. The web site said I started 87th and finished the first leg 47th overall which confirms I passed a lot of people.

Note I still feature on the Home page of the event web site - blue guy in the middle.

Web site has been updated and I have been relegated to 3rd

MTB 50:00 [3]

Ride down from punt Hill to the smaller Pemberton MTB circuit where I do 2 laps and then ride back after a coffee in town

Friday Mar 1, 2013 #

Cycling 2:10:24 [4] 58.7 km (27.0 kph)

Ride with postie and Lost Richard. With a few sprint and climb exceptions held back on this ride as postie was trying to save himself for the Karri Cup. A few KPI's around the route indicate some improvement over the last month, particularly on the climbing. Some fun on the the south perth side with admirable scenery. I can see now the real reason why Lost_Richard rides the long way to work. With too much of a good thing I miss my Matilda Bay turn off. Catch up with the girls and Tony in Swanbourne for a coffee and then a solid ride up the coast.
