Mapping (Bells Rapids) 5:00:00 [2]

The southern part of the Bell Rapids Map remains to be finished. The last time I did some mapping was 12 months ago and I find the first two hours quite difficult getting my head into gear. It did not help starting in a difficult area near the river. It was interesting to compare the photogrametry to the mapping I did of the same area straight onto aerial photoprahy and DOLA 5m contour data. I find that mapping with photogrametry is still quite difficult as not a lot was picked up on the steeper slopes. So at the end of the day end up with a head ache from all the double checking on the steep slope. Very rusty but I know it will be quicker next time.

It was amusing to watch two pairs of geocachers? GPS's in hand the stride across the bridge and focus on the GPS's. Excited discussion with hand pointing in at least 3 different directions. They go back across the bridge only to come back 2 minutes later looking sheepish. Geocachers equivalent of a 180 perhaps.

Cycling 52:30 [4] 22.8 km (26.1 kph)

Shake out the cobwebs and out for a ride on this cool morning down to trigg and back north to Hilarys following the coast. Sea air and view to invigorate. Legs feel like they are full of molasses after essentially two weeks off. (A frustrating two weeks). Hip feels fine but still slightly swollen. Ease into excersice.
