Longer than I intended but nice and easy. Lots of stretching. Sore but tolerable around the ankle.

Easy and slow. Lots of stops to stretch and strangely, though it was sore for some time after the run, it stopped later in the evening and felt pretty much fine by the time I went to bed. I can feel the pain with a deep massage behind the ankle but I'm otherwise fairly spry. I kinda don't get it. I ran yesterday with some trepidation and a sure feeling that it was a bad idea but this happy outcome is a surprise. I am so far from understanding the mechanics of my body.

Here's the picture, by the way. That is some serious engineering:

Really awful, this run. Several stops from side-stitches and a worsening of the pain in my right leg around the ankle. A couple of days away from the road and I can clearly [oh very clearly] isolate the pain. Specifically the flexor hallucis longus and flexor digitorum longus tendons at the point where they wrap around the posterior side of my proper ankle.

It's really rather beautiful the way the muscles and tendons twist and wrap their way under the external ankle and then weave under the foot. It would be especially cool if the bastard didn't hurt so much.

I would, by the way, post a picture but the commies that control my internet connection to the free world have deemed it appropriate to control my access to seditious sites like flickr. F&*$%ers.

Shins sore - especially near the ankles on the medial side. Like getting rapped with little hammers. Better about 7-8 minutes in but still painful.
