Orienteering race 1:31:17 [5] ***** 9.88 km (9:14 / km) +320m 7:57 / km
ahr:153 max:171 shoes: Inov8 Arctic Talon 275

BOC High Dam, M45L
good run, not great, physically demanding and I wasn't up to the challenge, consequently my orienteering was also laboured (hesitant and indecisive), but this is what it's about

better version of straight route on #7 would have been to head for the small tarn and take the path there (didn't say any climb going around the fence)

9th, 7mins behind 8th (Ifor), 19mins behind winner James Logue

Garmin estimates 320m climb, reckon it was closer to 400

Mapping 2:15:00 [1] 5.5 km (24:33 / km) +120m 22:08 / km
shoes: Inov8 Race Ultra 290

Bretton West, a couple more anomalies, map highly misleading along the bank Bretton Brook, I guess this was never used in an event (being the border of the competition area)

Farley Moor
nice and easy, just ticking over, so thought I'd check out developments at Farley Moor (not very exciting)

Birchen Edge, the 'stoops, Ramsley Moor
easy one out to the stone circle from the Robin Hood, returned on my own while the others went further, took the opportunity to look at map correction on Birchen Edge

Mapping 2:40:00 [1] 5.6 km (28:34 / km) +220m 23:53 / km
shoes: Inov8 Race Ultra 290

Bretton Clough West, hmmm, found a hill that was mapped as a depression and those cliffs are mostly eroded areas where some bare rock has been exposed, not what you would expect from the map

1 PM

running (terrain) 53:12 [3] 7.37 km (7:13 / km) +250m 6:10 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Bretton Clough, Eyam Moor
from the Barrel Inn after mapping, struggled, especially once I hit the dead bracken on Eyam, warm
