Stretching 40:00 [1]

Running 25:00 [2] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Grid Shadow 8

Trinity-Bellwoods loop. I'm pretty tired this morning. I tried to be a little more disciplined with my stretching today. I didn't stretch at all yesterday, and I think I could feel the difference during the o-ing.

Wednesday Jun 29, 2005 #

Cycling 1:00:00 [2]

Cycling to/from Taylor Creek Park

Orienteering 1:25:00 [2] *** 7.0 km (12:09 / km)
spiked:11/15c shoes: Grid Shadow 8 TR

TOC Park nights: Taylor Creek
I did a lot more socializing than orienteering. I ran/walked with Justin. It was only his second time orienteering. Too bad he doesn't know someone better to learn from. The mosquitoes got really bad in the last 20 minutes.

Tuesday Jun 28, 2005 #

Stretching 30:00 [1]

Running 59:00 [3] 11.0 km (5:22 / km)
shoes: Grid Shadow 8

Running around High Park. Ran a lot of the hills hard.

Swimming 50:00 [2] 2.0 km (25:00 / km)

Really sloppy swimming. I don't usually swim in the evening, and I was just too tired to focus. During a careless flip-turn, I whacked my left heel on the side of the pool, and it's bruised now. I hope it doesn't hurt to run tomorrow.

Monday Jun 27, 2005 #

Cycling 1:20:00 [2]

Cycled along the lake shore, and north along the humber river trail.

Sunday Jun 26, 2005 #

Swimming 1:50:00 [3] 4.0 km (27:30 / km)

2000m of IM. Normally I do a maximum of 400m of strokes other than freestyle. My right shoulder is pretty sore.

Saturday Jun 25, 2005 #

Stretching 40:00 [1]

Running 1:22:00 [2] 15.0 km (5:28 / km)
shoes: Grid Shadow 8

I ran south through Trinity-Bellwoods to the Lake, and then ran west along the lakeshore. Finally, I came north into High Park, ran some trails, and then headed home. I was glad I got out the door at 7:10 because it turned out to be a very hot and humid day.

Cycling 1:00:00 [2]

Cycled to/from Cherry Beach to meet Dan for some canoeing.

Paddling (canoe) 3:00:00 [1]

A great afternoon canoeing around the Toronto islands with Dan. We stopped for lunch and a quick swim at a beach. There didn't seem to be that many people on the island, especially considering how hot it was. That is until we rounded a point and came within sight of Hanlon's Point (the 'clothing optional beach'). Dirty! Old naked men everywhere.

Thursday Jun 23, 2005 #

Swimming 1:20:00 [3] 3.1 km (25:48 / km)

At the end of my main set, I did 8x50m sprints. My best times were roughly 41s. That seems pretty slow, but I really couldn't go any faster.

Stretching 45:00 [1]

Cycling 1:00:00 [2]

I did some easy cycling around town. I made my way to High Park for some running. Alternating easy/hard I did 5 loops continuously of my approx. 1km loop. School is definitely out for summer. The park was crawling with teenagers.

Running 16:00 [2] 3.0 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: Grid Shadow 8

3 easy loops

Running intervals 6:35 [5] 2.0 km (3:18 / km)
shoes: Grid Shadow 8

2 Hard loops: 3:14 and 3:21
I went a little harder than I had intended on the first loop.

Stretching 20:00 [1]

Orienteering 1:00:00 [2] *** 8.0 km (7:30 / km)
spiked:17/21c shoes: Grid Shadow 8 TR

TOC Park Nights: Lower Humber River
I think this was the longest park night that I've attended. The navigation was pretty easy in this park. I made one big mistake, when I bushwhacked up a steep hill instead of taking a nearby path. At least 4-5 controls were misplaced or I made some mistakes transcribing my map, likely a bit of both.

Cycling warm up/down 30:00 [2]

Cycling to/from orienteering.

Tuesday Jun 21, 2005 #

Swimming 1:10:00 [3] 3.3 km (21:13 / km)

Cycling 1:00:00 [2]

Finally, I've fixed my road bike. I bought a used fork for $5. Surprisingly, the blue fork and red frame look pretty good together. I've definitely lost some cycling fitness in the last 4 weeks.

Sunday Jun 19, 2005 #

Running 1:15:00 [2] 12.0 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Grid Shadow 8 TR

Another run in Shorthills. This time I ran a more familiar route in the east side of the park. Another beautiful day, and a lot less mud.

Stretching 45:00 [1]

Saturday Jun 18, 2005 #

Stretching 30:00 [1]

Running 1:00:00 [2] 9.0 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Grid Shadow 8 TR

Paul and I ran a trail in the west side of Shorthills. It was my first time running in this part of the park. The trails were really muddy from the overnight rain, and Paul's shoes weren't giving him enough traction. On a fast downhill I tripped in a groundhog hole that was concealed by tall grass. Luckily, I got by with only a scratched knee and a mud bath.

Friday Jun 17, 2005 #

Hiking 2:00:00 [1]

Hiking with my brother, Paul, in Shorthills Prov. Park. In spite of the mosquitoes, it was great to be out around dusk.

Thursday Jun 16, 2005 #

Swimming 1:00:00 [3] 2.3 km (26:05 / km)

Shorter workout than usual, but more intense than usual.

Wednesday Jun 15, 2005 #

Stretching 45:00 [1]

Running 1:05:00 [2] 11.0 km (5:55 / km)
shoes: Grid Shadow 8

Run in High Park. Finally a cool morning. Everything was wet from the rain.

Tuesday Jun 14, 2005 #

Swimming 1:20:00 [3] 3.4 km (23:32 / km)

I found a dime at the bottom of the pool during my warm-down. I'm rich!

Monday Jun 13, 2005 #

Running 30:00 [2] 5.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Grid Shadow 8

Easy run down to Trinity Bellwood Park.

Stretching 45:00 [1]

Running warm up/down 14:00 [2] 2.0 km (7:00 / km)
shoes: Grid Shadow 8 TR

Orienteering race 1:04:00 [4] *** 7.0 km (9:09 / km)
23c shoes: Grid Shadow 8 TR

Starkey Hills Score-O. I got to 23 of 25 controls in the time limit.

Friday Jun 10, 2005 #

Stretching 30:00 [1]

Running 33:00 [2] 5.0 km (6:36 / km)
shoes: Grid Shadow 8

Over 30C, smog and humidex warnings ...

Thursday Jun 9, 2005 #

Swimming 1:20:00 [3] 3.4 km (23:32 / km)

Hardest swim workout in a while. I rarely do any sprints. Among the usual longer distance sets, I did 8x100m hard and 8x50m near sprint.

Wednesday Jun 8, 2005 #

Stretching 45:00 [1]

Running warm up/down 43:00 [2] 7.5 km (5:44 / km)
shoes: Grid Shadow 8

Ran to/from High Park, and ran some of the trails for warm-up.

Running intervals 13:23 [5] 4.0 km (3:21 / km)
shoes: Grid Shadow 8

Ran intervals on a roughly 1km loop (measured it out from an o-map). 1-2 minutes rest between loops.
4x1km: 3:22, 3:20, 3:21, 3:20

Tuesday Jun 7, 2005 #

Swimming 1:10:00 [3] 3.2 km (21:52 / km)

Stretching 30:00 [1]

Running 37:00 [2] 6.5 km (5:42 / km)
shoes: Grid Shadow 8

Sunday Jun 5, 2005 #

Swimming 1:00:00 [2]

More lake swimming with Craig.

Saturday Jun 4, 2005 #

Running tempo 1:05:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:25 / km)
shoes: Grid Shadow 8

Ran ATV/snowmobile paths north of Bon Echo Park. I tried to run all of the downhills as hard as possible. It was a really hot, beautiful day. It isn't often that I jump in a lake after a run.

Stretching 30:00 [1]

Swimming 30:00 [2]

Swam two widths of Lake Mazinaw with Craig.

Thursday Jun 2, 2005 #

Swimming 1:15:00 [3] 3.0 km (25:00 / km)

Paddling (Canoe) 2:15:00 [1] 11.0 km (12:16 / km)

Dan and I canoed up and down the Don River starting at Cherry Beach. We turned around just north of Bloor St. because the river was too shallow.
I was quite surprised to see a beaver, a real fat one.

Cycling 50:00 [2]

Wednesday Jun 1, 2005 #

Stretching 45:00 [1]

Running 55:00 [2] 10.0 km (5:30 / km)

Easy run in High Park again. Spent a little more time on the trails this time.
