I've decided to flag my 'injury' as healed. It may not be 100%, but it has certainly improved. I think a cautious return to running over the next couple of months will prevent a relapse. Also, I need to start doing my strength routine.

Cycling (Commute) 1:00:00 [2]

Commute + errands in the evening. Achilles sore when walking down stairs, like last week.

Orienteering 2:30:00 [2]

I had signed up for the men's elite course, but I didn't have the endurance for it. I intended to switch to a shorter course, but it didn't work out. I walked a lot of this course. The open fields were especially tiring, but there were a lot of beautiful views of the escarpment. I cut the course short at CP 25, and should have came back earlier.

I usually finish in double the time of the top elite, and this rule-of-thumb held true today. I'm still at the point where finishing a course is a success. However, I was disappointed with CP8. It took me +15 minutes to travel between CP 7 and 8, yet they were a mere 100 m apart. Oh well. Thankfully, my foot was fine.

The sprint course was so much fun. I started out slow, and gradually got faster over the course. By the end, I felt pretty fast, despite so little running in the past 3 months. I'm not sure about my time, but I think it was a little over 20 minutes.

Glen Haffy Score-O. Great weather for running. My goal was to run as slow as necessary to avoid any major nav errors. I was successful until around the 45 minute mark when I lost contact and spend 15+ minutes relocating. Ah well. It was good to be back out and running.

Hiking 3:00:00 [2]

After a very restless sleep, I actually felt much better. This was a very rugged and beautiful section of the bruce.

On the drive home, we stopped at the Cheltenham Badlands to see what the fuss was all about.

Hiking 1:15:00 [2]

First day of a quick backpacking trip on the Bruce Peninsula with LJ and IDan. Fantastic views. Unfortunately, I was coming down with a head cold, and developed a splitting headache during the hike.

Cedarvale. First 10 minutes with LJ. Last week, I signed up for the COCs, but I'm beginning to regret signing up for the Long. I'm out of shape. My ankle is feeling pretty good, but the tendon is still sore when I massage it, so I should remain cautious.

Stretching 15:00 [1]

Running 25:00 [3] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)

Taped foot. Felt ok. Really hot and humid, but I enjoyed it. If I were over 45, I'd have gone shirtless, but it's not acceptable for us young fellas to let the wind through our back hair.

Cycling (Commute) 25:00 [2]

Strangely, the athletic tape has left a nasty rash on my foot. It's not painful but very itchy, and there are a couple of blisters on the bottom of my foot. I'll probably try another short run on the weekend without the tape, and I'm starting to do some strength work.
