We went to the OCUP today with plans to hike around and spectate, but at the last minute I decided to take John and Paul around the beginner course. It went really well. I carried Paul the whole time, but John ran quite a bit and was doing pretty good with the nav. The splendid weather certainly helped.

I took advantage of some poor sleep and got out the door earlier than usual. It has been a while since I've run in the forest in darkness. The sun rose while I was in grindstone, which was good timing because the stairs were quite icy there.

Calf still bugging me a bit. Beauty morning along grindstone creek. Mist rising off the river. Fantastic flow over the falls. Ice covered trees. I went back with the family in the afternoon, and there was a group slacklining over the valley. One of the guys was quite good.

I went down to Port Dalhousie with Laura and my sisters. My sisters and I intended to hop in the lake, but the beach was locked in with 200 m of ice. Disappointing, but maybe for the better.
