Running warm up/down 10:00 [2]
shoes: Falcons

Orienteering 1:19:00 [4] 12.4 km (6:22 / km)
shoes: Falcons

Buffalo Long. The temperature had dropped by 10-15 C from Saturday, and I felt great. This was a really strong run for me, but not without many some small mistakes, hesitations, and some bad routes. I had a very exciting race for the last third of the race. While leaving CP 13 I noticed a pair of runners coming in who were probably on my course. It really motivated me to pick up the pace to try to stay ahead. They caught me at 16 and we were close together for the rest of the race. I stayed slightly ahead through 19-22, but I was not fast enough to keep that up to the finish.

Note

I just checked out the route gadget for the long race, and I definitely had some 'unique' route choices. What was I thinking on 2-3? On 9-10 I didn't notice the NNE trail that should have been an obvious choice. Few people chose my route from 11-12, but my time doesn't seem to be too bad.

Orienteering 34:00 [4] 4.5 km (7:33 / km)
shoes: Falcons

Buffalo Middle. I did not feel well at all. Might have been the heat and humidity. I struggled the whole way to run hard. I found the map very difficult to read initially, and I hesitated quite a bit. The side hill controls were fun, and something I don't see very often around home.

Orienteering 13:00 [4] 2.5 km (5:12 / km)
shoes: Falcons

Buffalo sprint. A fun course, and I was feeling much better than this morning.

Along the credit river. I ran up some of the steep trails that leave the valley on the east side of the river, and wandered into the Riverside Conservancy. There are a lot more trails than I realized.

Stretching 10:00 [0]

Very tight. I've been neglecting my stretching lately.

Attending the OCE Discovery conference for the last two days. Exhausting but interesting.
