Swimming 30:00 [2]

Mainly working on my right side breathing/stroke

Sunday Feb 26, 2012 #

Running long 2:04:49 [2] 21.5 km (5:48 / km)
shoes: New Balance 1080 MR CP D

Not a bad day out there. Jogged over to the ferry docks, and took the Ongiara over to the Island(s). Jogged around there for about 30 minutes, and then back home.

Swimming long 44:00 [3] 2.0 km (22:00 / km)

I'm always surprised at how short the swims in triathlons are, compared to the other two events. The half iron swim is only 1.9k, compared to a punishing 90k for the bike.

Running long 25:51 [4] 5.0 km (5:10 / km)
shoes: New Balance 1080 MR CP D

Ugh. Tough one. Felt out of breath and didn't have the enthusiasm to keep higher speeds.

Left ab still bothering.

Swimming 30:00 [2]

Beautiful day! Crowded pool. Worked mainly on right side breathing.

Crossfit 7:00 [4]

Running 6:44 [5] 1.61 km (4:11 / km)
shoes: New Balance 1080 MR CP D

I took my old timex to a watch guy and he fixed it. Awesome.

My left ab has been bothering me lately. I think it is related to running (new shoes?) but it could be swimming related. Seems to loosen after a while. Not painful, but makes me hold back on intensity.

Running 2:45:00 [2] 27.3 km (6:03 / km)
shoes: New Balance 1080 MR CP D

Long run, and I didn't bring enough nutrition. Good route--rail path to the belt line and down the dvp. Haven't been up there for years.

A guess at the time. My watch broke halfway through. Well, it lasted 13 years.

Hiking 3:00:00 [2] 12.0 km (15:00 / km)
shoes: Sorel Winter Boots

West side of Owen Sound. Meg suggested we park a car at one end and take a taxi back to the start. Good idea. We wore snowshoes for most of it. Not very deep though, and packed in some parts.

Running tempo 24:04 [4] 5.0 km (4:49 / km)
shoes: New Balance 1080 MR CP D

A lot of work and studying and eating too much lately.

Running tempo 6:55 [5] 1.61 km (4:18 / km)
shoes: New Balance 1080 MR CP D

This is on the indoor track at Talisman. Funny how much slower one is when not on the treadmill.

Yesterday, I bought some body glide from a small running store in Marda Loop. The girl working the cash turned out to be one of Canada bright young triathlon talents. Another thing I love about Calgary.

Swimming long 1:31:00 [2] 4.0 km (22:45 / km)

I was talking with Mick regarding a 4km open water swim in Orillia the other day. So I decided to give 4km a shot. Not too bad.

I timed my visit to Talisman for when the 50m pool would be open, but when I got deckside, it turned out to still be in 25m. Disappointing.

Sunday Feb 5, 2012 #

Running long 2:18:56 [2] 22.67 km (6:08 / km)
shoes: New Balance 1080 MR CP D

Saturday Feb 4, 2012 #

Running 6:39 [5] 1.61 km (4:08 / km)
shoes: New Balance 1080 MR CP D

This is the fastest mile I can remember running, in years anyways. I remember doing near 6 minute miles on the treadmill in uni.

Crossfit 9:00 [5]

Only got through a third of this workout. Felt a little sick and weak.

Swimming 1:06:30 [2] 3.0 km (22:10 / km)

Longest swim in years. I used to do 1 hour swims all the time. Took a longer lunch with a 3000 metre target today.
