Strength/Weight (Back) 45:00 [3]

Back, Abs, biceps.

Running 30:00 [2] 5.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: asics

A run through le rouge river valley, including a run to the top of the very impressive hill of garbage. This has to be one of the tallest hills around for many kilometers, and the view is stunning.

I wish to go back there some time and do some hill work.

Volleyball 1:00:00 [1]

Sunday May 29, 2005 #

Paddling (Canoe) 2:00:00 [1]

Lots of random canoeing interspersed with bouts of sleeping on the beach.

Friday May 27, 2005 #

Tennis 1:30:00 [1]
shoes: asics

Thursday May 26, 2005 #

Swimming 25:00 [2]

Used the float to help reduce my water column for about half the workout. I think I need to read more about technique...to focus my training more. I felt sort of frustrated so I cut it short.

In other news, the new Star Wars movie was OK.

Strength/Weight (Back) 45:00 [2]
slept:6.5

Back & Tris. I would have gone for a swim, but an aquafit class was in the pool.

Tennis 1:00:00 [2]
shoes: asics

I am still a horrible tennis player.

Running 25:00 [2] 4.05 km (6:10 / km)
shoes: asics

Slow, tentative run with some intervals at the end.

Strength/Weight (Shoulders/Abs) 1:00:00 [3]
slept:6.5 weight:93kg

Shoulders/Abs/Biceps

Cycling 20:00 [3]

upright machine

Elliptical (X-trainer Elliptical) 20:00 [4]

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]
shoes: asics

A slow run, about 5.5mph. Jeez, I can really tell that I've lost quite a bit of speed and endurance over the last 5 months. My feet don't seem to be hitting the ground correctly, either. I feel like I'm over-pronating...it is very tiring on my legs. No ITB pain, however.

Note

I plan to do a Du in late May

Hiking 4:00:00 [2] 14.0 km (17:09 / km) +100m 16:33 / km
shoes: Zamberlan Hiking Boots

Day hike from basecamp along GHT wilderness section. Went to the somewhat disappointing "graveyard".

Backpacking 2:30:00 [4] 9.0 km (16:40 / km)
shoes: Zamberlan Hiking Boots

Backpacked out of GHT back to car. Bugs were very bad near the Black River.

Backpacking 2:30:00 [4] 9.0 km (16:40 / km) +60m 16:08 / km
shoes: Zamberlan Hiking Boots

Backpacked into and along Ganaraska Wilderness Section. Victoria Bridge looked like a scene out of Deliverance.

Friday May 20, 2005 #

Running 55:00 [2] 8.0 km (6:53 / km)
slept:7.0 shoes: asics

Run in Cedarvale Park...thanks, Bill Davis!

My first real run in almost 5 months. Some knee tenderness, but no pain. Muscles are a little tight today.

Sunday May 15, 2005 #

Paddling (Canoe) 2:30:00 [1] 15.0 km (10:00 / km)

Canoed down the Credit River, Eglington to the Lake. It was an almost constant flow of rapids and swifts. I swamped once, after I got caught in the wash of a C1-tech or C-2, caught the shore, and spun around. A really good time. Amazing, actually, considering the urban location. This weekend or next are probably the last for this route for the year.

Saturday May 14, 2005 #

Hiking 5:00:00 [1] 16.0 km (18:45 / km)
shoes: Zamberlan Hiking Boots

Hike on the Ganaraska Trail Wilderness Section, Moore Falls access to Scrabble Mountain. Very cool monument on top of Scrabble Mountain, and a reasonably good viewpoint.

Also did some off-trail hiking and potential portage exploring while there.

Wildlife: Beaver, grouse, black bear cub (that's scary!)

Friday May 13, 2005 #

Elliptical (X-trainer Elliptical) 35:00 [4]

Strength/Weight (Chest) 45:00 [3]

Chest/Abs/Tris.

Thursday May 12, 2005 #

Strength/Weight (Back) 30:00 [2]
slept:6.5

Quick back workout. The gym was crazy busy.

Cycling 30:00 [3] 15.0 mi (2:00 / mi)
slept:6.5

15 minutes of random on the upright, followed by 15 of intervals on the recu.

Elliptical (CrossRamp) 30:00 [3] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Swimming 30:00 [2] 0.4 km (1:15:00 / km)

Some swimming in the pool. I tried to focus on some of the stuff I've been reading in Friel's book. I tried to reduce my "body cylinder" by tucking my chin. I also used float device to increase the bouyancy of my legs. Very effective...I found it made it quite a bit easier. I'm going to dedicate some workouts to just this in the coming weeks.

Saturday May 7, 2005 #

Hiking 4:00:00 [1] 15.0 km (16:00 / km) +200m 15:00 / km
shoes: Zamberlan Hiking Boots

A hike at Silent Lake Provincial Park. The first free time I've had in the last week--been buying a new car.

Man, my knee continues to be tender.

A few hours on the Bruce with Sarah. Boy, I'm going to have to do some real exercise next week.
