Orienteering race (Brown Course) 1:04:39 [5] *** 3.17 mi (20:24 / mi)
spiked:10/14c slept:8.0 weight:120lbs

Ran the Brown course at the Boulder Dash A meet at Bear Brook S.P. in N.H. Ran well......felt good about all but 3 controls..... 1- went a little rt. but saw it off to the right... spiked 2&3.... head for the brook and marsh on the way to 4 hit the trial and headed in the woods... went about 50 yds. and rethought things over and was not sure were I was when I left the trail went back to the trail and west on until it turned south then went west to the pond... and the went up along the edge and counted reent's saw the big one with the boulders and know where I was went right to 4..... found the cliff by 5 but was a little left and turned right and bingo... went up between the cliffs and brook 100m then went up to the reent. and spiked 6...easy run to 7 was sure when I saw the two boulder half... spiked it... goofed on the way to 8 got cocky because it looked so easy and ended up 50m. to the rt.... had to back track and relo... and then bingo... but it cost me time...spiked 9&10.... was to low on the way to11 and missed it saw reent.. and kown I had missed to the right and went up hill and back bingo... but lost more time.....easy run the rest of the way spiked 12-14 got done it seemed easy for the first time and I was so glad when the print out showed that I had not missed anything.... But looking back I am not sure how I did it.... It just seemed to flow and I know right away when I was wrong....

Orienteering (Orange course) 1:49:25 [3] 4.36 mi (25:06 / mi)

After a rest I went out on the orange course to get more work..... First big goof was I used a black pen when I drew the course on the map and blocked out some key things !!!!! self timed.... 1 & 2 went ok... then over ran 3 and ran into 4.... went back and got 3 and back to 4 ( brain still back at the start..) made a big mess of 5 ran by it so close I could have touched it.. but thought I had to cross another wet area.... relo... after alot of lost time... 6,7 & 8 bingo.... then big goof went to the trail but miss the boulders I was looking for and went on down the trail... was sure I was in the right place 100m. down the trail... after a long time figured out where I was and ran back right to the control.... now I was tired and goofed up big time again on the way to 10 ... woke up and got 11-16 easy.... I thought this course was harder then the brown one I ran for real...... But got 16 more controls....
