Orienteering race (sprint) 36:29 [4] 1.9 km (19:12 / km)
shoes: X-TALON 212

Well came back to earth.....and fell flat on my face.....I was just out of this race before I started......I have not done many sprints and did not feel good about doing this one..... I need to figure out what to do to stay in control and not just run around like a fool..... all the goofs were over runs.... I hate this scale....and have no feel for how far I should be going....I had the same issue down in Ky. .....1-3 ok then flew by 4-5 .... 6-7 ok..... and then had no clue what to do or where I was one 8-9 over ran both and lost my mind.....18 min. later got back on track and finished ok.... but just a big downer.....I need to figure what to do .... and work on it..... I think I will go into the fields (where I don't have worry about falling on my face) in back of the house and work on running and reading the map as I run faster then I do in the woods.....and just study the 1-5k map..... need to do better next Sat......

Bike (Road) 30:12 [3] 4.98 mi (6:04 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:123lbs

Tight and sore from the ride home from Pa. .... plus mad as hell after real bad sprint and just wanted to get back out and do something.... so went for an easy bike ride in Orange.... knees not happy about this.... but my head felt better when I got home...

Orienteering race (Long Brown) 1:01:20 [5] 4.9 km (12:31 / km)
slept:8.0 weight:123lbs shoes: OROC 340

Ran the Long Brown at NAOC...... good day again.... but once again had a slow shaky start on the way to #1......but then had a good run and finished 8th in A.G. ..... once again felt in control and was sure where I was at all times.....had good plans on all routes.....just love that blind Woodchuck !!!! legs were dead at the end of run......was just down to a slow jog on the long leg to 13...even with most of it on a road....need to work harder on running in the woods next yr.....

Note: need to figure out how to get a better start and run to No. 1 .... had slow and shaky starts on all three days....have trouble finding the start on map and then thinking ahead on how to get to the first control.....my splits are alot slower then the rest of the runners.....this cost me at least 2 min. on each course.....once I get in the flow I was ok.... may try to put some maps on the ground in the woods somewhere and try to pick one up and find the start and make a plan while I am running in the Dir. of the first control on that map.....need to fix this issue....
