Orienteering 25:51 [1]
setting Bird sanctuary section for Sundays event with Kari.....
Note
wow....despite using our car,it took Kari and I about 4:30 to put out controls and ribbons for Sundays event....between prepping/printing the maps and info/instructions sheets, getting supplies, and placing the controls late in the day to minimize "taken" controls it was an all day affair......I almost felt like Ian.... : )
C • yes... it all seems so simp... 1

trying to keep speed for my last swim Tri of the year on 8/2....

Wednesday Jul 23

Swimming 30:56 [4]
simulating fast triathlon start....

5x 50 in :40, rest :20 and then do a 100 in 1:29....rest 1:00 and repeat...

then 2x300 with 2:00 rest inbetween, 300 times 4:34 and 4:22 (had a swimmer girl in the lane to push me...she got me by about 8 yards....)

Orienteering race 22:04 [4] *** 2.48 km (8:54 / km)
Wirth Sprint....non official run....blew 2 minutes by going to the worng control after 12 despite the fact I vetted and placed controls..ha!....the hills slowed me to a walk at times...my heart rate went very high......I figured I might do better on a straight O run knowing the controls...even with the 2 minute mistake 22 minutes seems kinda slow.....

Tuesday Jul 22

Mt Bike 52:17 [3]
ahr:131
2 loops of Wirth...18:29 and 17:54.....I biffed it on the first lap....wore the dust for the rest of the loops....
Triathlon Bike 1:03:18 [2]
ahr:121
...first time on a road bike for Kari as she took her new bike our for a ride.....we did the cedar lake/hopkins loop just to bring it up to speed a bit....one guy actually blocked her from going around him after I passed by....I guess he didnt like the fact that a girl with running shoes and loose toe gages (she didnt want clipless) was passing him....did the loop in 41:17 with lots of slow downs....so I figure we averaged high 17 mph on the loop.....not bad for a first ride....

Monday Jul 21

Note
Kari is giddy....we went out and bought a Specialized Ruby Elite road bike for her yesterday.....she has never had a good road bike before and this carbon fiber beauty is all the bike you would ever need...I have sneaking suspicion I may have to train harder now to keep up with her on the bike...

I had given her the option of buying herself a goad bike a year and a half ago for her birthday....she also returned a more expensive wedding ring with the thought of puttting the money towards this purchase awhile back but did not get down to actualy shopping and buying it until this weekend....we are hoping to take it for a spin tonight....
Orienteering 32:41 [2] **
did an O section of Urban Practice race...I hope participants dont mind getting muddy or wet....
