Note

Terrace Oaks Red today...goal is to run smooth and thoughtfully with a slight push on the accelerator............dont get frantic, stay in the map, use the codes and descriptions, dont tear off without knowing where I am at and where I am going...........route choice and speed is not as important as staying in the map and missing bad for me.....

we wil see how this works out...

Orienteering race 1:11:55 [4] 5.2 km (13:50 / km)
ahr:152 max:179

Red course at Terrace Oaks...a good run everything considered. I was probably 10 minutes off the mistake free race so I lost 10 minutes on 4 of the 18 controls...mistakes usually involved being confused by the trails on the map (including the red mt bike trails). I did get a chance to relocate quickly and complete the leg to avoid a major blow up...it was a good time...thanks to all of those that helped out....

most of the course was off trail and we had very few sections to run the trails...a course heavy on navigation with very little chance to run long...moving through light green most of the day...a lowish heart rate reflected this....

ended up 7th of 28 on Red and was a bit suprised that others seemed to have trouble with some of their legs.....and many heavy hitters were missing....

Note

.....and concerning something else that is totally different...

...after some replumbing and some very discouraging post op test numbers (apparently 12 million and 10% moving is NOT good), and against all odds.....Kari and I are expecting!

this is the equvalent of a full court shot at the buzzer that hits nothing but net!

true to form, despite being a very mediocre athlete I am a decent swimmer....(and apparently there is some carry over)....

Its like I told Kari....I may not be fast, or very good, but I never give up....apparently this applies to other areas of life.....

today we heard the heart beat and confirmed a due date of (and get this) Halloween!....

scary?...you bet!....excited?...definitely!

Onward!

Orienteering 1:15:46 [4] 6.04 km (12:33 / km)
ahr:154 max:177

(also see NOTE BELOW)

very well done practice session...solid training of a good course...and a very good turnout...thanks ToddP...

Tierney/Anderson Lake O...enjoyed the course but felt a bit ragged and clunky at times...the Anderson area was fun as I had hiked it back in summer looking for new areas for a local practice AR....

I had trouble close in finding the tapes (as usual) and my eyesight was really poor in the twilight....spend alot of time on 9 thinking it was on a hill top instead of a depression because I could not read the map...lost 3 minutes there ...I finally figured it out when JB was poking around in the area below me and yelled out.....

I gotta get those "O flip up readers on a head band" (that is soooo hot!) to help with this......also got my Saloman shoeslaces hooked around a branch and had to take my shoe off to get loose....

if only we had had seperate control descriptions I would have done great! : )

a couple other misses also but "helpful O friends" like MoBiz and JB helped mitigate the loss...

not a bad pace given my rough edges so that is a good sign.....I actually ran pretty good but I need to navigate and flow better...
