upper respiratory infection I am trying to minimize...feel drug through the mud. These things can take 3 weeks to get back to normal so I am hoping to cut it shorter with our Canadian trip and events coming up....

xc classic skiing 1:17:48 [3]

15K loppet classic.....

Short report....

disaster of a race.....

-the new skins on my skin skis I replaced yesterday peel down half way and drug in the snow after the first lap....killing glide and making any skate stride a mess...
-got a head cold yesterday and took meds just to race anyway...
-Giving blood is not a good thing to do the week of an event....I could feel my energy drain away as i fought the skis with dragging loose skin take underneath my left ski and halting glide
-The course was icy and exaggerated all of the above...the 3 loop course was tiresome after looking forward to the normal course on good snow...the weather the day before killed the course and left even the impeccable man made loop a bit icy and wore down on the was also crazy that the top marathon skiers had to ski through our field....chaos!

couldnt wait to get the 3 loops done and limped to the finish....Kari dropped after one loop...just wasnt feeling it...

In addition, there were all kind of logistical snafus that lead to the sub par day but thats enough for the moment......

silver lining?....I got a good workout!

xc classic skiing 55:23 [3]

Wirth!....nicked a ski after the world master cup classic races. They had groomed for classic and groomed trails that had never existed for nordic sking was like skiing my own secret trails in parts and the skiing was fantastic.

Skiing right by hwy 55 on world class classic grooming was a trip and the part across the railroad tracks was a treat...(although totally screwed up the race in the morning as a train was parked across the trail and reeked unexpected havoc) glad I got out....I would love if they continued to groom this new parts of the trail but its not likely......had to take advantage while it existed....
