Big long intense days without lunch. At least the work team is fun and we help each other get it over with. argghhh... but missed out on swimming, physio and HT...

Mink!! he was !! 1L and I saw a little creature running along the edge of the water while KAyaking... 1L thought he might be a little Muskrat, but ! He clearly had a little bushy tail... and looking up Toronto wildlife, I declare (officiallly) that he must have been a Mink!

I ve seen Muskrats before and they just don't look like the little guy we saw.
But this is the first time I saw a Mink in the wild so I was not completely certain, ... but now I am. After doing some readings... hihi

The Kayaking was nice, we saw night-herons (which are supposed to be mainly nocturnal) ... Night herons stand still at the water's edge, and wait to ambush prey, mainly at night. ... the guys we saw might be early risers, or all night partiers... hummm ...
Other were ubiquitous DUCKS!! geese (white and grey), fish, dogs, squirrels, pigeons, hirondelles, ...

my arms felt it by the end of this paddle.... !

cycled out from Pickering to Whitby, with A.C. ... nice and relaxed. We ended up falling on the Whitby RibFest and were wandering around. We tried to go on the bumper cars but they were closed due to the electrical storm...
and so we sheltered in the fake-tatoo tent while it rained, trying to pick one.

and then the lightning hit the main tent
(I still did not know what happened at that time).

Everyone hit the ground, people were coming out saying there was a fire.
I went to see if people needed help, there were a lot of people on the ground, lots of screaming kids. You did not know who to help fist. A little boy about 4 years old came to me very badly burnt all down his back screaming.

He was the worst I saw, and a nurse came to get him, I then helped a little girl lying on the ground that could not feel her leg. Trembling in shock, she was cold.
so .. pulled out all my clothes from my ginormous cycle bags, and covered her with everything i had, and tried to keep her talking. In pain, and shocked, but she never lost consciousness, or changed color.

Paramedics... (even if they are fast) seem so slow to arrive! The girls mother arrived, lucky cause she was a calm, solid woman.
Things went fast after that paramedics arrived, they took the girl, I think she was fine. I was more worried the whole time about the little boy.

But looking at the news this morning, they say: all sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
I guess there going to be fine, it just looked really bad.

a beautiful Cardinal!!
a frog (toad as he was land dwelling) that we saved from being squashed in the streets, or cooked on the road... hop hop back into the bushes.

Little Racoon descended the tree right next to us... once he saw us so close, he did not know if he wanted to climb back up or continue down...
He finally opted to continue down and nervously run away.... keeping an eye on us to make sure we were not following him.

Our wetsuits dried quickly in the heat.

Got my bike back!! Shifter gears were soaked in WD40... the magic sludge that makes everything work again.

tried to bixie bike in ... but was TERRIBLY LATE !!!!
missed out on all the pre-workout stuff, and .... had 1L waiting for me at the docks, making her start late...

I now know that i have lots of kayaking technics to learn,... :)
as i was generally unable to run away for anyone while playing tag!
