Early run , went to pick up Rob, unfortunately he is still a bit under the weather so could not make it out. On a plus side he did treat me to a peak of his fine form in a rather fetching dressing down.
Enjoyed a gentle trot up Rivelin Valley and back. Ran a bit harder down.

Achilles slowly improving , run down through eccy woods, then back up out past Whirlowdale farm onto Ringinlow Road and home.Runnimg down hill hard and jogging the ups. Achilles likes this approach not sure it is great for fittness though.

Had to man up and do an early run out on my own without Rob. Out around damflask with a little loop at the end . Resisted to the temptation to jog around the car park to make 10 miles. Felt like a tempo run , but reality was sadly different.

Very gentle session 5,4,3,,2,1 and back up with half length recoveries. Legs ok but chest really tight, think will have to be cautious for a bit longer. Achilles still very sore uphill. Debating national cross country really want to run it , but not a lot of point if cannot do hills.

Still feeling shite, but temp down at least so did a jog around the block. Felt really bad for first mile and almost turned around, then thought not much point in a 3 mile route. Did feel a little better by the end.I've got a good week to do not a lot as pavements are bloody lethal.

Note

Not enjoying February, woke at 2am shivering with a high temperature. Have caught Tom's bug. Not a big heart rate checker but 70 definitely high in the morning . Haven't been poorly for ages so cannot complain too much. Also forces me to rest my achilles. Was debating going for a very gentle jog this evening, but still had high temp so realised was a crap idea.

Slipping and sliding down to the parks then back up to Ringinlow. Ran back down in the gutter as was getting bored of the slush.
Achilles about the same. Listened to Chris Chattaway interview, think I am going to be concentrating on "maintaining freshness," for the next few weeks!

Achilles better if not entirely happy. Plan is too have a few very easy days. Hills and long hard runs really seem to cause grief. If I am going to run marathon can manage without hills , but need long runs. Reps on the flat are ok, so will try and concentrate on these and skip hill reps, as was after Tuesday's hills that it got really sore. Did a very gentle run on the snow, beautiful morning. Built three snow men too, does this count as cross training?

Enforced rest not quite ticking injured box , but Achilles is not happy. If not improving will be last bit of attack pointing for a while . The thought of Cross training is already depressing , but cannot face typing it up afterwards!

Parked by Yorkshire bridge , ran around reservoirs with a bit if an add on . Gorgeous day , started steady and then speeded up on way back . Aiming for marathon pace garmin was all over the place so god knows what I was running . Much nicer starting off fresh felt quite good. Perfect running weather if a little icey in places.
Only down side after sitting down for the afternoon at work, Achilles really sore and hobbling tonight .

Experimenting with trying long run tomorrow, starting a bit fresher rather than with sore legs. Can only fit run in tomorrow so had to miss Hallamshire session tonight which is a shame. Lovely clear morning for run to work though .
