Running 57:00 intensity: (32:00 @2) + (25:00 @5) 7.5 mi (7:36 / mi)

Early start late finish tonight so snuck in a session over lunch. Did hills up Tofts Lane with effort of the top, 12 with jog back recovery. Warm up and down jog along Rivelin Valley. Accomapined by a few snow flakes.

Nice steady run home back from work, enjoying the cold.

Monday Jan 30, 2012 #

Running 1:07:00 [2] 9.4 mi (7:08 / mi)

Run around Dam Flask with Rob and Oli. Lovely cold still morning. Good to have some more company, perhaps this is the future with more of us running at this time. Or perhaps not.
1 PM

Running 34:20 [2] 5.1 mi (6:44 / mi)

Quick run at lunch time up from Damflask to High Bradfield and then back down and around Damflask. Running up to High Bradfield, jumped to sound of a shotgun going off. Thought it must be a tractor, but then ran past 6 blockes in fields with their dogs and shotguns under arm. Not sure what they were shooting at, looked like a seen out of Miss Marple. Is this legal? I didn't stop to ask them.

Saturday Jan 28, 2012 #

2 PM

Running 1:12:00 intensity: (30:00 @1) + (42:00 @5) 11.5 mi (6:16 / mi)

Northern cross country champs. Quite enjoyed pretty flat fast course. Intended to go off fast and then try and hang on. My fast start clearly not that fast, followed Joe G for most of race worked my through the field a little with him . He powered away on last lap, but I enjoyed a good uphill sprint with some youngsters. Good runs from him and Rob L. Our team seriously overshadowed by the women, showing us how it's done.

7 AM

Running 1:02:30 [2] 8.1 mi (7:43 / mi)

Pleasant morning run with Rob. Bent his ear and probably bored him senseless about marathon training. Already trying to increase mileage whilst keeping pace up on all runs is breaking me . Will have to rethink my approach !! Bugger

Running 50:00 [5] 7.5 mi (6:40 / mi)

Thursday Jan 19, 2012 #

6 PM

Running 1:05:00 intensity: (30:00 @1) + (35:00 @5) 10.2 mi (6:22 / mi)

Did hills with Hallamshire group in a tempo sandwich with Dave of 2x 10 mins. Was a bit nervous for this a sounded tough and my foot is not quite right. Tempo felt suprisingly good, hills hurt, as they should do. Was grand to have such a big turn out for session.
Almost went pear shaped as Dave and I played chicken with the Tram up by Middlewood, I was relying on it sticking to the left hand track. It did not and we got a bit of a shock as it came around the traffic lights straight at us. The driver was quite rightly unimpressed with us, even our bright clothing could not make this move safer.

Stunning morning run with Mr Baker, cold clear around Damflask, lovely to be out,
1 PM

Running 50:30 [4] 8.05 mi (6:16 / mi)

A bit sore from running this morning, bit of a session, not a huge change in pace. Half mile warm up then 3 mile hard, half mile easy then 2 mile hard, half mile easy then 1 mile hard, with a little jog finish. Achilles suprisingly good but some sciatic symptoms in calf ,hamsting not pain but leg not quite moving right. Should see a physio rather than moan about it, but moaning is much quicker. Must be coming from my back.

Sunday Jan 15, 2012 #

8 AM

Running 1:14:35 [3] 11.15 mi (6:41 / mi)

Beautiful morning, hilly run up limb valley then back through the parks with extra loop. Running first slipped and fell off the stepping stones on the ice, much to amusement of big bunch of mountain bikers . Laughed it off and merely fumed inside .

Saturday Jan 14, 2012 #

Achilles really sore first thing , better after walk around park run

Friday Jan 13, 2012 #

12 PM

Running 2:12:53 [3] 20.42 mi (6:30 / mi)

Long run , first proper long run. Ran out to Dam Flask and did 4 laps. Very dull I know, but gave me the chance to cut short home if foot got sore. Legs pretty tired to start very tired at the end. Beautiful day , not sure if doing long runs on Friday is a good plan. Seriously tired now.

Thursday Jan 12, 2012 #

12 PM

Running 1:02:30 [5] 9.2 mi (6:48 / mi)

Foot and achilles a bit better so treated them to 4x1 mile in Beeley wood. Wind against going up through woods on 1st and 3rd then behind 2nd and 4th. Did 5.25, 5.07, 5.21, 5.03. Felt ok legs pretty tired, Occasional twinges in foot put definitely no worse.

Wednesday Jan 11, 2012 #

7 AM

Running 1:10:26 [3] 10.44 mi (6:45 / mi)

Run to work up to Ringinlow then across Fulwood Lane. Righ achilles and foot really sore, did get a little better as I ran. Might have to accept cannot quite do the mileage i would like . Plan to continue running on it as long as it gets a bit easier during a run. Have not got a lot to lose by this approach, will see if this is a dum plan. Loveley warm morning back in shorts and t-shirt , probably vest tomorrow.

Tuesday Jan 10, 2012 #

7 AM

Running 57:42 [5] 9.5 mi (6:04 / mi)

New route trying to train myself to do more quality at this time of day, not sure i am succeeding . Set off at 0645 did 1mile warm up then 3 miles hard, 1 mile steady 2 miles hard then half mile steady then 1 mile hrad with a jog through Hillsborough park to finish. Went out eccy road, down Whirlowdale road and Abbey Lane then Abbeydale road to try and keep this flatter run. Bang on 9.5, right achilles really sore to start, but eased up.
7 PM

Running 34:30 [2] 4.7 mi (7:20 / mi)

Slow plod home from work, knackered. Right heel and foot sore. Blaming heel on trainers I wore yesterday, some very thick soled aspcs that feel a bit weird. This may be wishful thinking .

Monday Jan 9, 2012 #

7 AM

Running 1:06:00 [3] 9.4 mi (7:01 / mi)

warm morning run with Rob around Damflask. I was slightly overly excited to see the reservoir properly full to burst again, made my morning. Shame they are felling one of the woods on the bank. Good chat about marathon training.
7 PM

Running 42:30 [3] 6.4 mi (6:38 / mi)

run home from work, legs really stiff after sitting unmoving all day. Abbeydale route.

Sunday Jan 8, 2012 #

Running 1 [3]
(rest day)

Saturday Jan 7, 2012 #

1 PM

Running 1:15:00 [5] 10.5 mi (7:09 / mi)

Yorkshire cross country champs, great to have to such a huge Hallamshire turn out. Shame we could not beat Leeds again.
5 laps of Wakefield course. Apparently organisers have beed told to be cautious with muddy courses after Alton Towers last year, so cut out some muddyish bits. Seems a shame, but I goes it was not my ankles being broken. Anyway 5 windy laps , felt OK moved through steadily to finish 11th. Legs OK but still felt a bit flat. Could not go with one of the Leeds guys when he pushed on.
Excessively long warm up and zero warm down as had to get home for a birthday tea!

Friday Jan 6, 2012 #

Running 1:12:30 [3] 10.4 mi (6:58 / mi)

Very convoluted run to work too dark and wet off road . Brief off road stretch almost ran into a fallen tree. Enjoyed weather today ,mostly as had a tailwind . Sore gluts from hills yesterday , hopefully means they are switched on (as the physios tell me)

Wednesday Jan 4, 2012 #

5 PM

Running 1:05:00 [4] 9.4 mi (6:55 / mi)

Run home from work was going to do some reps along Rustlings Road opted for Springvale Spirals instead when I got outside. Quite enjoyed it once I got going , no idea how I was running too busy trying not to get blown over.

Tuesday Jan 3, 2012 #

7 AM

Running 48:30 [3] 7.1 mi (6:50 / mi)

Fairly unpleasant morning run out to Dam Flask, part of the way round and home. On my own with no Rob could not face all the way around in the wind and the rain. Think i am getting soft in my old age.
1 PM

Running 33:00 [3] 5.1 mi (6:28 / mi)

Brief lunch time run in stupidly busy day with late finish. Stayed dry.

Monday Jan 2, 2012 #
