Wednesday Jan 31

Running 1:55:00 [1]
veryvery slow jogging (~ 8min/km) and 10% walking. That's all I could do, so that's what I did.

Tuesday Jan 30

Note
(injured) (rest day)
Siesta.

Monday Jan 29

Other (Walking) 30:00 [1]

Hamstring hurts, running is impossible. Walking is all I can do now with my leg.

AM, walking with map at Barbate, checking saturday #7 (it was clearly misplaced as I suspected).
PM, Walking at the beach and city of Cadiz. Three hours, 11 km. Drive home to Mijas.

Sunday Jan 28

Running warm up/down 20:00 [1]
Orienteering race 35:00 [3]
Andalucian liga, race I, day 1, middle distance.
After some ice and Voltaren I decided to try running the day 2. I could run somehow first two kilometers, but then there was so much pain I realy had to slow down and start to run with one leg only, almst like jumping with one leg. Navigating wasn't perfect, leg pain made it difficult to focus in orienteering. I made one 45 sek mistake, but the control was a bit misplaced so I guess everyone boomed that one a bit.

Saturday Jan 27

Running warm up/down 20:00 [1]
Orienteering race 54:00 [4]
(injured)
race 54 min, 9.8 km

Andalucian liga, race I, day 1. Class Masc Senior (= H21). Perfect fast pine forest terrain, great map and course with lots of controls.
Legs were a bit stiff after all the running training and it slowed me down a bit especially in dowhils. But it was fun, no serious mistakes and near the end I tried to push a little bit harder until on a dowhill to #26 I felt a lot of pain in my right hamstring. It was only 5-600 m left, so I basicly jumped with one leg to the finish to get result.

I won the race by a bit over two minutes, 8 minutes to third place adn it makes me wonder what I should do with the day 2. Should I try to run or not? After the race I could not even walk well.

Running warm up/down 50:00 [1]
Orienteering 1:16:00 [4]
13.2 km, 1:16. First 8 km "historic" loop with 1978 topo map. Course went throug new urban area with lots of new buildings and roads, especially to #1, #2 and #4. Good old 70's orienteering techniques were valuable again, like scouting the area well before event. Suits me, I live 300m from #2 ;]

Second 5.2 km loop with normal street-O map. About 10 cm snow. Fun, but my legs are now quite dead.

I ran from home to event center, but I forgot my map bag, so I ran back home to get it (50 min warmup/down).

RG. Note, there is two maps and a jump line between maps.
Google earth, here you can see how the area has changed since -78.
Results. Shocking 12 min behind "Pipo" Harju. But hey, thats less than 1 min/km, maybe I am getting fit (just kidding...)

Total 335:07:18

- About 6.5 h/week. Less than hour/day. That's not much.
- Over 100 hours of orienteering, 32% of all training. It tells a lot - I haven't been training, just having O fun.

Training plans for 2007? O might is much more fun if you are more fit. But I will not be more fit if I don't practise more or do more intensive/quality running training. Bigger volume will not happen, higher intensity/quality is more likely. But I should find a way to make harder trainings feel fun - otherwise I will just kill my motivation.
