Procrastinated getting going today so hence it was about 11.30m when I set out. It was pretty warm and Callum likes to go slow in the heat, so pace was relaxed. Callum, bear and I headed east up the boundary track to the bitumen then back along the valley. We visited the tap at Karka and dogs had a drink and a wetting , so after that we did a solid pace down the valley. I was doing a good tomato impersonation by the time we were home.

The forecast rain was short lived and I was indoors at the time visiting Mum so unfortunately missed it. Some the other residents walked in it and one came back quite exhilarated from getting a bit wet! The joy of rain after a long dry.

Up the valley with both dogs before work. Unusually Callum was not keen on intervals so I just tried to up the tempo a bit.

Jenny kindly organised this run to start from my house, which made the 7 am start feel do- able for me. Jumped in pool and hosed Callum down before heading off, to start cool. All girls run today, apart from Callum. Echo tunnel, past upper waterfall, QJD , tap, to railway, along here to Station ave, back along Upper sturt rd and boundary track. We were lucky it was a bit overcast which kept temperature bearable. Bush is so dry at the moment. Could smell dead animals at times, probably the heat and dry. Wish it would rain, but not holding my breath.
Legs felt fine doing a bit longer than usual, just felt sleepy!

Decided it was too hot to run today so did some yoga and multiple jumps in the pool.
Kitchen got up to 34 C today. Yuk.

Went horse riding in evening, after recent Pilates and yoga I was very 'core aware', good for balance. Rode around sunset time, hot and still.

Went to Pilates, first time in ages.

Sprint event around Karinya. Started my usual tentative self, stopping to tie laces ( why can't I remember to do them before I start?) but gradually moved better. Heard footsteps coming up behind near the school - it was Jenny coming up behind -so that helped me perk up and get moving. Last part was really fun. Generally opted for straightforward routes even if a bit longer.

As I was home late from work I was kindly 'picked up' by the group and we headed up the boundary track, past cottages, back along valley . Then home via Glenalta. Pretty warm night. Soooo long since any rain, everything is looking very dry and the ground is hard.

With Lauren and both dogs before work. Up the valley and back. I did some intervals on the way down with Lauren timing me which was fun, although hard to be super efficient with both dogs. Went up Nookoo track on way home.

Pyramid intervals up the valley with Callum before work. Felt much easier to run just taking one dog! Legs felt more alive than they have done lately- think it was the cool.

Hot run up the valley about 9 am up Melville house track then to redwoods, then back down valley. Took both dogs and hosed us all down at the start, with tap and lake stops on the way.

Potter up the valley and return to pick blackberries. Mostly under cloud cover until last bit of riding home when the temp suddenly rose.

Cooler than I expected aided by cloud cover so this was not too bad, although it was after 10 when I left. Went up valley as far as cherry plantation then did intervals back down valley. Took both dogs, Callum not keen on going fast, so he lagged behind while Bear surged ahead.

Very pleasant to jump in the pool after.

Popped into the gym for some resistance work while I was up at the shops.

Note

Went to sprint O in the evening with L but he was feeling sick he tells me when we get there so we just walk v slowly and only made 10 controls by finish time.

Looked quite fun to do quickly.

Lovely evening run in Belair, if pretty warm, with the crew. Lake, over railway, lower waterfall, tunnel.

Time a bit of a guess.

Spent the evening trying to coax Boof down from the neighbours gum trees ( not a chance, he loves being high in the trees) - it was hard to explain to a surprised man walking past what I was doing at the top of a tall ladder in the dark apparently talking to a tree! Then going up to meet a shaken Tarn who'd hit a even more shaken koala on Upper Sturt rd. She was waiing for koala rescue. Back home by midnight.

45 minutes with Lauren who is recovering from injury, so we just went up the valley and back, with some blackberry sampling. Right at the end, crossing the golf course , I noticed I still felt half asleep and I realised I'd been going extra slowly, probably quite unnecessarily to be kind to Ls injury!

Then did a dog walk around the forest from home with some bits of running to make it up to the hour.

To/from Marion where I worked today. Sun was pretty hot going up Shepherds hill rd on the way home.

Time includes waiting at lights etc. Didn't enjoy the traffic, but nice to be on the bike again.

Had horse ride on chubby Alfie this evening while Leith at soccer clinic. Two rides in one day. Lovely at Cherry Gardens this evening.

Bridgewater run with a huge crew! Callum was in ecstasy. Bowling green loop. Such a nice run and lovely cool breeze on the higher points. Had to return Mia the dog from Gully rd again, she really wants to join the group! Owner very apologetic.

Felt pretty good running which was nice as haven't felt super energetic lately, we had a few stops which allowed for a bit of resting.

Lovely brunch for John Ns birthday at the Providore at Aldgate. Good food and coffee.

Now in for a run of hot days, not good for running.

To Crafers west and return through Belair NP to pick up something for T. Left after 9 so quite warm, felt a bit nauseous going up QJD. Had planned to run this but woke a bit late, had one of those annoying nights where I woke about 4 am and couldn't get back to sleep , then finally fell back to sleep and slept through alarm. In hindsight I could've ran at 4 am, with no fear of sunburn, just didn't think of it at the time!

Intervals up valley. Hadn't done This for a while and I felt it. Legs felt stiff and heavy but improved as I went.

Cycle with friend Carolyn up QJD . Vey pleasant. Took mtbs.

Later walked both dogs around forest. Best crop of blackberries I've seen there.

Unfortunately missed - O has L has developed a cold. Went reluctantly to school and came home feeling lousy. Shame for him and I was sorry to miss Adelaide uni map.

Early morning run - ran to Vanessa's on Keith rd, then we did a lap of pine forest and frank smith's back nearly to Keith rd then I turned and ran home back through forest and up creek.

So tired this morning I didn't go running, nor did I swim at lunch despite being at Marion - ran out of time.

So did some yoga when I got home, which is always enjoyable in a stretchy way.

Yay! A bridgy run with Bridget, John N , Jane and Mel. Cool and light drizzle - a treat in January! Ran down Aldgate Valley rd to Mylor, back the direct way.

Rode Johns new 29er through Belair to Picadilly and return for Rogaine meeting. Despite sweating on the climb, once up the top noticed how chilly it was . Enjoyed a hot cuppa and hot scones on arrival, it's a tough committee!
