Short run before work, Nookoo loop.

Swim after work ( so only 25 m lane ) with Anne. Lane crowded. Arms not feeling strong.

orienteering 1:24:00 [3] 7.1 km (11:50 / km) +215m 10:17 / km

Rocky Paddock at Mt Crawford. Course 2. Decided in this terrain ( not scarily technical) I would be fine to do a longer course, which I was if not always perfectly executed. Courses were set by AK and as you would expect it was well organised. Controls were fairly placed to be visible if you were in the right spot, and he made good use of the available areas. There was a nice mix of pine plantations in various stages, rocks, open farmland and some scrub. I don't include the yakka control in the description 'nice mix'!

Lost bits of time to settling in to the map, adjusting gaiters ( misplaced mine so wearing Js large ones) , drifting a bit on some bearings, particularly into 9, and working my way through the yakka at snails pace. I started after 11 so hardly anyone was around which was a shame, I needed to get moving faster leaving home.

A fun event on a another sunny crisp winter day.

Later went for a late afternoon walk with Tarn and the dogs in Belair . Beautiful sunset as we walked.

35 minute run around the pine forest with the barky brothers, prior to watching Leith's home game at the school oval standing in the lovely winter sunshine. ( A resounding win to Hawthorndene winning 9:1, L scoring 6 goals. The other goalie visibly lost confidence from one end of the game to the other, a tough job!)

Plus approx another 15 minutes running a short o course at Woodhouse, as part of SARAs training day. I went as a helper but as I wasn't needed the whole time I did this course plus some bearing and pace counting.

SARA Rogaining training day ( and night). I accompanied a couple who wanted to improve night confidence revisiting the controls they had visited in daylight, most around Mt George. We did quite a bit of cross country in very thick bush, with my encouragement ' this will be fun to find this little gully!' ( it was ). I started by feeling a bit nervous but found I had quite a bit of info that they found useful, and there were many handrails. It was quite fun and a lovely moonlit night. I enjoyed seeing J and Ts surprise when we found controls in the dark! Almost felt like a real rogaine.

Lovely Belair run with Lauren and Callum. Up Qjd left down Tilti track across valley then up to upper waterfall , tap, redwoods. Intervals ( 1 min x 7) down valley. Good to push harder. A bit sore after.

Run in Belair with both dogs. Beautiful sunny crisp morning, everything sparkling. Up valley to old NP station, up spur to N of station to QJD. Down this. Took fire track off Qjd which leads to water tank then across valley to rejoin QJD, down this and back home.

Planned to ride to Ls soccer but short on time so ended up driving.

After being invited every year for 12 years by my friend Anne to her annual winter solstice run and swim, this year I finally did it!! Big sense of achievement- this involved getting up by 5.30 am ( I stayed at Seacliff to make this easier) and meeting the group at 6 am for a short run to Brighton jetty and return, then running into the water for a quick dip in the darkness!
Not at bad as I expected. Wearing my explorer socks, gloves and ear wrap as well as running gear into the water probably helped Would've enjoy a longer run to get warmer ideally. Followed by coffee and crossaints at Anne's place AND homemade medals for all participants made by her lovely 85 year old father. Been showing it off all day.
Time also includes a bit of running later I did when walking dogs. I felt too sleepy tired to keep this up.

Belair with Jenny, simon, Marco and Nic and Callum. Up valley on road to upper Sturt rd, back along boundary track. Talk was all travel, very enjoyable!

Out for much longer than above time but was stop /start as checking a few control sites with Lauren ( and answering ph!)

Very pleasant way to spend a Wednesday morning. From home went up QJD to first big bend then up gully, over railway, north across the hill to tape a rock, on up to upper waterfall, a short stint along Sheoak rd, back via spur to old national park station back along the valley. Bush is looking really healthy, nice to see some water about.

Lunch time swim at Marion. It's been several weeks since I swam and it was very noticeable. My shoulders and arms felt like jelly. Broke up freestyle with some breaststroke and even backstroke ( don't really enjoy backstroke.)

Up valley to national park station, up ballast pit track, down QJD which was like Rundle Mall this morning with walkers, runners and cyclists out enjoying themselves. Tried to do intervals down the road but it's almost impossible and certainly risky to go fast with 2 dogs, and Bear a bit unpredictable! Nice morning run, flowed up by a lovely horse ride around the paddocks at Cherry Gardens. :)

Long run with Lauren, after about a 3 week break from me being sick. Echo tunnel, lower and upper waterfall, past dam, redwoods, up and over to Melville house track, back along valley. Legs a bit tired towards end, as was jaw!

Wandering around Belair with Callum checking control sites. Found a rock I couldn't find yesterday. Overcast and windy on high points.

Out for 2 1/2 hours but logging parts I was running.
Afternoon gardening again. Pretty tired after.

Run up steps and then cross country looking at control sites for upcoming o event. Out for longer but haven't logged walking and stopping to read map. Nice morning.
Continued with gardening in afternoon. Still not back to full energy.

Felt well enough to cycle. Took cross country route to save time. This was fun. I enjoy this commute.

Had that slightly flat 'not going away for weekend ' feel but hopefully will get some gardening done and get properly well.

Still a bit of coughing but feeling a bit better.

Managed the day at work so decided to try a short run. Loop through the park, up to Belair station, down via streets and golf course at end. Legs felt good. Lungs manageable. Callum very full of himself.
Noticed an approaching light coming up behind me in Belair, fast like a bike, but less smooth- Simon doing intervals.

Note

Felt slightly better this evening, maybe not being so cold tonight, or medication finally impacting. Conservatively optimistic.

Ended up walking dogs today for 2 hours in midday sunshine. Tried running a couple of times but chest tight.

Note

Back to work today but not yet 100% well and asthma and coughing got worse as day went on. Work was much warmer than home though.

Bit tired of this.
