orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

Aus relays W 45 with Sue George and Kerryn F ( who did well to finish having never done anything remoothis technical.)
Stupidly I made my worse mistake on number 3 which was not difficult and I just didn't see first up but thought I'd done a crazy parallel error and faffed about ' relocating '. I also spent a bit of time actually getting to the control in the erosion gullies.

orienteering 25:00 [3]

WOB Aus middle at Crooked straight- while not being perfectly clean I did find this a bit easy so decided rather do As with mediocre times than Bs. Nice area.

Thursday Sep 27, 2018 #

swim 19:40 [3] 1.0 km (19:40 / km)

Lunch time swim.

run 55:00 [3]

Touring run of Belair with J, B and Oliver. Looking for wildlife and visiting the 'waterfall', echo tunnel and adventure playground with a bit of running in between. Legs felt much better than yesterday.

yoga 20:00 [1]

cycle (Commute ) 1:10:00 [3] 18.0 km (3:53 / km)

Bottom of Old Belair road to North Adelaide and back.

run 42:00 [3] 7.76 km (5:25 / km)

North Adelaide intervals . I wore my new Asics trail shoes for the first time and was very happy with them. I am now pretty sure my recent unexplained sore legs were due to wearing worn out shoes.

Monday Sep 24, 2018 #

cycle (Commute ) 1:40:00 [3]

To town and back as based in the city today. 40 minutes in which is good for me. Lovely view of the full moon over the eastern hills going up old Belair road , then I enjoyed the reflection of the full moon in Playford lake in Belair.

orienteering (MTBO) 1:56:00 [3] 13.5 km (8:36 / km)

Fox creek MTBO. Managed to drag a non o friend out (Anne) but she was feeling very rusty and not mtb confident so she turned back after the first control, which was particularly steep and gravelly and not confidence building. She had fun practicing on a flat forest track and enjoyed being somewhere different. Meanwhile I completed the rest safely if not stylishly. It was fun. I was off my bike jogging the up hills and would've preferred 2 fat tyres for the rough spots - still had my thin road tyre on the back - but managed fine. Dropped my thumb compass and didn't go back to look for it as I wanted to get out before the afternoon road closure for a car rally. Home via Stirling markets.

yoga 30:00 [3]

Legs very tight particularly adductors.

Friday Sep 21, 2018 #

run 1:17:00 [3] 12.5 km (6:10 / km)

Belair junior training. Started with the women then caught Leith and Remi after some hard effort but then continued solo on the senior boys loop. Saw a bandicoot- first one in ages - so I filmed it. Beautiful evening. Route was eastern boundary track down road, north to redwoods, valley, loop around lake. Legs sore much of the run. Time and distance a guesstimate

Pilates 55:00 [1]

Pilates on steroids. There was a young fill in girl today who raced through explanations and exercises and wasn't happy unless we were sweating. She probably broke several Pilates principles in the meantime. When it became ridiculous I ignored her and did the usual exercises which was probably a bit rude but with 40 odd people ( room was near full 15 minutes before the start - yes I was early) she probably didn't notice!

Thursday Sep 20, 2018 #

run 55:00 [3]

Belair loop with Jenny and Callum. Callum's last run for 2 weeks as he is having surgery tomorrow. Early on I was so tired and talking so much ( about my frazzling day) that I fell over - luckily I didn't hurt myself, just my pride. Stuck to flatter spots and did some wildflower spotting.

Wednesday Sep 19, 2018 #

run 37:00 [3] 6.2 km (5:58 / km)

Western loops in Belair with Callum. My legs were still sore from intervals.

Tuesday Sep 18, 2018 #

run 37:00 [3] 6.5 km (5:42 / km)

Time and distance a guesstimate.

North Adelaide intervals. Felt a bit hard tonight, but still enjoyable.

Monday Sep 17, 2018 #

swim 30:00 [3] 1.5 km (20:00 / km)

After work swim. In the dive pool.

Sunday Sep 16, 2018 #

orienteering (Training ) 1:00:00 [3] 6.0 km (10:00 / km)

Loop with Leith at a relaxed pace to find some point features from old Belair courses. The wildflowers are starting to put on their show. I became a bit distracted by them and by pulling out weeds. Perfect September day. Time and distance a guess.

Saturday Sep 15, 2018 #

run 1:10:00 [3]

Hilly run in Belair with a little cross country. Not sure of distance, not very speedy. Nice to see the windflowers out including some orchids.

Friday Sep 14, 2018 #

run 1:00:00 [3] 10.0 km (6:00 / km)

Junior arrows training. Up valley back via boundary track.

cycle 1:00:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:00 / km)

Ride to Brownhill creek and back for a work 'walking ' meeting. Lovely day for it. Saw my first brown snake of the season in Brownhill creek.

Thursday Sep 13, 2018 #

run 51:00 [3] 8.0 km (6:23 / km)

Boundary track heading up and then back down valley. I was slow and a bit hopeless in the dark tonight - clumsy. Nice to run with B and S and J. Callum was extra yappy tonight. Spring perhaps?

Tuesday Sep 11, 2018 #

Pilates 55:00 [3]

run (Intervals) 48:00 [3] 8.56 km (5:36 / km)

North Adelaide training with the juniors and parents.

Monday Sep 10, 2018 #

swim 39:00 [3] 2.0 km (19:30 / km)

Lunchtime swim.

Sunday Sep 9, 2018 #

orienteering 1:04:00 [3] 7.06 km (9:04 / km)

Kuitpo OT event Course 4, 5.2 km.

I made mistakes at 3 ( had to use vague creek to south) and 13 ( tried to go direct, should've used track option - had to go out to track to north anyway when I couldn't find the flag in all the vague green.) Rest ok but conservative- not much punch in legs after 41 km yesterday.
I was disappointed at the end to see my splits tell me I mispunched, missing number 3. I know I'd been there, had I forgotten to punch? It was only when home I looked more clearly and saw several 'additional ' controls visited. Finally I realised I'd been put on the wrong course on the system - course 5 with 10 controls not the course I actually did course 4. Phew! Thanks to Ben for fixing quickly on the system.

rogaine 5:54:00 [3] 40.9 km (8:39 / km)

Lofty Explorer Rogaine with Jenny. See her report.

I ate 1 1/4 gels
1/3 cliff bar
1 puréed fruit squirter thing
3 milk bottle lollies
1 magnesium table and 2 ibuprofen
Drank about 2 litres water
Wore running vest.

Score 2220 points, surprised ( very pleasantly) to come second as saw this as a runners Rogaine with easy Nav. Route planning and execution also important it would seem.

Friday Sep 7, 2018 #

run 1:01:00 [3] 9.7 km (6:17 / km)

Bridget's Friday long training with Leith and team mates plus running there across the golf course. Lovely afternoon for a run. Headed up to upper waterfall via Echo tunnel. Saw the emu with the white head. Toby asked how do I know there is only one white headed email and I realised I don't, I've just assumed that is the case. Anyway I gave it a wide berth, as did Callum.

Thursday Sep 6, 2018 #

run 51:00 [3] 8.3 km (6:09 / km)

Redwoods with B ( who is back :) ) /J/C.
Legs felt much better than yesterday.

Wednesday Sep 5, 2018 #

run 30:00 [3] 5.0 km (6:00 / km)

Run with Leith - Western Belair loop

Tuesday Sep 4, 2018 #

Pilates 55:00 [1]

Morning session.

run 45:00 [4]

Hill reps x 7
Legs and lungs hurt so I had a nice post run satisfied feeling. Guessing time. Emily said the last rep was faster than the second last so that is something.

Monday Sep 3, 2018 #

swim 38:30 [3] 2.0 km (19:15 / km)

Lunchtime swim. There was a fast guy in my lane and another in the next lane so that helped me move a bit faster to not get lapped so often!

Sunday Sep 2, 2018 #

orienteering 32:40 [3]

Sprint o at Waite. I started late after helping so was running on my own. Looking at other times this looks like a bit of a dawdle. I took a dumb route from 13-14 running on the south side of the creek ie scrambling over trees as I thought I wasn't supposed to cross the creek, but the legend confirmed it was crossable I found out after ( and I'd already crossed a creek 2 x so don't know what I was thinking anyway. ) nice to have a run though.

Saturday Sep 1, 2018 #

run 1:10:00 [3]

Up past upper waterfall back via boundary track. Glitchy garmin means I am not sure of distance.
