run 33:30 [3] 6.06 km (5:32 / km)

Run around north Burra with Callum where Leith and I are staying tonight. Very windy and cold. There had been bright sunshine for sometime before I headed out but shortly after starting a driving rain started. It was very cold and the rain was so hard it was almost painful. Going up the last longish slope I was surprised and pleased by how good I felt until I realise do the gale was now behind me pushing me along. Quite fun!

Note

Watched The Castle with Leith. He was amazed that this is where the 'He's dreaming' phrase came from.

walk 2:20:00 [1] 9.0 km (15:33 / km)

Heysen trail from near Hamilton to Marshall's hut near Peters hill with the family ( minus Tarn). Scenery was awesome. So green, awesome wild flowers. Callum was allowed to come and he loved it.
On route to Burra to pick up my repaired car.

run 37:00 [3] 6.0 km (6:10 / km)

Run back to get car while others walked on. Dropped part way by my cousin James (70 plus years) after some ( in my opinion) mad 4 w driving cross country on his part across his paddocks!

Made it back to pick up the others just in time before the rain set in!

run 55:00 [3] 9.3 km (5:55 / km)

In warm conditions ran through Echo tunnel up to lower waterfall to see it after the rain. Passed many other groups with the same idea, great to see so many out and about. Took yet another video of it. ( about the third this year, each time thinking I've never seen it like this, it keeps getting more impressive! )
Then onto upper waterfall and back past dam and Saddle hill rd.

run 1:07:00 [3] 11.0 km (6:05 / km)

Run through park to Crafers west and return. Still rainy not too windy. Encountered a large old pine across the track and road on way up to Long Gully. It was so wet that Callum ran in his coat.

swim 20:00 [3] 1.0 km (20:00 / km)

Lunch time swim. Lane to myself - lovely. Quite happy to have the car today to drive home in the rather wild conditions. Rain and wind fairly constant from late afternoon ongoing.

Special hour long ABC news bulletin for the wild weather. Highlight of course was the segment on the Aust o champs! An unexpected and welcome surprise. I spotted 7 SA juniors!

run 58:00 [3] 10.5 km (5:31 / km)

This run started in bright sunshine with occasional wind gusts, continued to cloud over and finished under an ominous dark blue grey sky, with growing wind and distant rolling thunder. This added interest and the growing unease about being caught in the storm spurred me on to all the speed I could muster on the last 4 or so km. ( Did a couple of 4 minute kms which I haven't done for a while. )
Route was up saddle hill rd, back down QJD diverting to side tracks past the tank to add a bit of distance. Took both dogs.
Found a young galah with an injured wing on a low pile of sticks so have now house it in a cage in our shed with heat pad to keep it sheltered while it's wing improves. Galah definitely didn't appreciate being rescued!
Sudden power outage accompanied by sudden heavy down pour and thunderstorm was quite dramatic. Even 4G was down. Quite nice not to have street lights and to be managing with candles, combustion heater and gas cook top. We were quite disappointed when the power came back on!
