Saturday Sep 16 #

run 42:07 [3] 7.48 km (5:38 / km)
(sick)

Up valley up level with Redwoods back via Melville house track. Took both dogs.

Then tried to get some weeding done in the neglected garden.

orienteering (Night champs Narrinyeri ) 1:25:00 [3] 6.4 km (13:17 / km)

25 minutes on one control , number 5- not much less than what some took for entire course... sigh. Nearly gave up.

Started looking too high and wasn't methodical enough about relocating. Possibly it wasn't smart to go out in trial contact lenses and no spare glasses. Also very unimpressed with my new black diamond which lacks a an effective central beam (despite what the box said) . I just had so much trouble seeing any distance of making out what was a rock vs a flowering shrub. Course easier after 5 as out of thick vegetation. Only problem was torch straps coming undone a couple of times and light going off and taking a while to get back on. Need to prepare more carefully for night navigating.

Funny thing was the next morning I discovered I had somehow had double contact lenses in. ? Who knows for how long. May not have helped vision.

Courses were fun overall and culvert crossing added interest.

Friday Sep 15 #

run 27:33 [3] 4.83 km (5:42 / km)
(sick)

Short run in western Belair after a sleep in!

Thursday Sep 14 #

run 47:38 [3] 7.29 km (6:32 / km)
(sick)

Belair run - boundary fence, Turners Ave loop.

Wednesday Sep 13 #

run 49:39 [3] 8.68 km (5:43 / km)
(sick)

Wednesday morning jog with both dogs, usual Wednesday loop straight up the valley staying on the bitumen instead of veering left to Redwoods, back via Melville house track. Legs felt a bit tired deep down, I could tell I had done a Rogaine, though a mostly walking one. Asthma seems to have returned....sigh ... and my voice has mostly disappeared

Pilates 1:00:00 [2]
(sick)

Hadn't been for some weeks, I'd forgotten how much I enjoy this. It is actually fantastic for body awareness and core stability.

Cold and cough seem to have returned. :(

Perhaps walking for 24 hours is not great for the immune system.

Sunday Sep 10 #

rogaine 11:56:00 [3] 36.0 km (19:53 / km)

Rest of rogaine. More later I hope - see also Jenny's report.

Want to consider:

- team relocation strategy when we can't find a control
- when bearings differ

Fun , great to be out in open spaces with my team mate. Love this crazy sport.
