Run with both dogs in Belair that became more of a walk.

Friday Aug 23, 2019 #

swim 30:00 [3] 1.5 km (20:00 / km)

Thursday Aug 22, 2019 #

run 34:13 [3] 5.91 km (5:47 / km)

Short Belair run with Jenny. Belair was squelchy and smelt of wattle blossom. Lots of frogs croaking.

Wednesday Aug 21, 2019 #

run 45:00 [3] 6.5 km (6:55 / km)

Station loop run with happy Callum and Roo.

rogaine (Setting) 3:30:00 [2] 15.0 km (14:00 / km)

More Rogaine setting. Tagged another 5 controls. Open countryside with big hills, some of which we had put controls for the 2013 Rogaine , bringing back nice memories . The many sheep carcasses were a grim reminder of the lack of rain. 46 controls now tagged, 29 to go.

Rogaine setting is possibly more fun than a real rogaine. Sadly back to civilization at the end of this day.

rogaine (setting ) 6:00:00 [2] 24.0 km (15:00 / km)

Two loops of 24 km in total, tagging 13 control sites. Again some interesting country including Pandappa Conservation park in the NE of the course. I had never been there before. Some nice rocky ridges. I really enjoyed this long day setting but was surprisingly tired after.

orienteering 1:09:00 [3] 7.23 km (9:33 / km)

Mulga Valey W 35 A. Course 3, 5.8 km , actual distance above. My brain was not focused on the way to control 1 and I became completely lost where I was up to on the leg . It was not a good feeling. ( In reality I had overshot one spur and if I did not feel so 'Picnic at hanging rock-y'/ discombobulated, I could've relocated much faster. I ended up running back to the fence near the start triangle to start over. Winsplits said it was an 11 minute mistake. I made another mistake later when I ended up at 6 instead of 4 when I tried to run too fast for keeping direction and I became confused right at the end of a long leg. The rest was really fun. My mistakes meant I was well off the time of the consistent Fern, who had a clean run. A well set course, with the first leg being subtle and requiring good focus.

rogaine (setting) 3:30:00 [3] 13.0 km (16:09 / km)

Another setting loop, in some fantastic rogaining country. I took a lot of photos. There was an open section in wind and rain which was very cold. I was very glad of a cup of tea on getting back to the cars. I was really tired after this day, in a nice way.
