Training Log Archive: Zed

In Belair with both dogs. Ran down valley and most of way up QJD then Callum was getting tired so we mosty walked for the remaining nearly 5 km so 13 km total.

Lunch time swim. I was tired throughout. I feel like tired could be my word of the week. Had a blood test this morning so I will be interested to see if my iron has improved.

Twilight series - Lochiel Long course - an interesting area. I may need stronger glasses, those little paths are hard to see on the map. Very pleasant way to finish the week.

Slow ( but in my defense this was hilly) run before work with Callum, rejoicing in the cool conditions after the scary weather yesterday.

Today I spent most of my day off at Anne’s at Seacliff to be in a safer location given heat and strong northerlies - however, early evening I decided to swim at the beach. It was really rough and it took me 35 minutes to swim 1 km north towards Brighton! . Then I turned around and straight away I felt the difference, I felt like I was flying and I thought this will be fun. Then I noticed the Westpac helicopter coming towards me, nearly directly overhead. Next thing I hear the helicopters siren and it starts circling just near me! Oh great. I looked up and there didn’t seem to be anyone else in the water. I was in shallow water but then realised it was a sandbar, and there was a deep section between me and the beach. A burst of speed ensued. Needless to say I didn’t finish my tail wind swim! .

Heysen spur trail back via Verdun with the group and Callum and Roo. Roo had her first swim in Cox creek.
