orienteering 29:08 [3] 4.52 km (6:27 / km)

Lochiel park long course. I avoided the rough looking ground under the bridge which meant I went wide to the left across the bridge to 14. Added further to my time on this leg when I ignored my control not checking the number as it was on the bridge not a tree as advertised by my descriptions, running a further 30 sec to the incorrect control ( but on a tree). At least I checked my mistake and went back to the correct one. My line to 17 (‘these last 2 look easy!’ ) was poor and I lost 30 -40 sec trying to find the control. I was in the wrong spot plus plus the control ( back behind me) had fallen over in the grass. While I had no sprint or top gear I must’ve tried hard as my legs were weirdly sore all the next day.

I also did a 10 min warm up and 10 second warm down.

run (Jog) 35:28 [3] 5.1 km (6:57 / km)

Gentle jog in the heat up the valley with Jenny. Snacked on blackberries along the way. Nice to get out after a hot day.

swim 25:00 [3] 1.15 km (21:44 / km)

Lunch swim. It was very crowded today and a man crashed into me traveling on the right side of the lane. He must’ve had a ring on as the impact cut my hand and now I have a new injury to add to my growing collection. Both guys kept reverting to breastroke so I spent a lot of time doing the same until I could pass. Today’s crowded conditions, due to a swimming carnival, we’re in stark contrast to a session last week where I was one of two people in the whole Olympic sized pool!

orienteering (Training) 31:00 [3] 3.45 km (8:59 / km)

Training at Waite. I had trouble reading sections as I often do here but it was fun still.

Pilates 55:00 [1]

Also I saw a Physio about my glute which is on the mend apparently and not a worry. I have some exercises for it and my right calf which is currently smaller than my left he noted and he thinks that’s why it’s painful after anything faster.

Not good weather for studying at home - I fell asleep at my desk!

run 31:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:10 / km)

Harriers training including warm up and cool down. 6 x 300 walk 100 , ‘sprint’ 100. Full session was 8 repetitions but I stopped after 6. Wore my trail shoes as they are better on my heel but feet felt sore after running with them on bitumen. My calf was very sore during the ‘sprint’, glute was ok but I was pretty slow. The coach Reece gave me some names of runners podiatrists.

swim 31:00 [3] 1.5 km (20:40 / km)

Lunch swim 25 m pool, got my HR up a bit.

run 1:14:00 [3] 11.1 km (6:40 / km)

Bridgewater run - did the shorter loop - thought I’d have to walk after 4-5 km but was pleased I wasn’t that sore throughout. A gentle pace helped I think and it was so nice to get out ( I’d nearly stayed home.)
