classic ski race (minneapolis) 56:00 [5] 15.0 km (3:44 / km)

Tricky wax day for sure! For everyone. Conditions held and there is enough base but the combo of old snow, man-made snow, a melt then a re-freeze, ice mixed in, then +6 today for classic was a challenge. Some people resorted to skins if they had them. The rest of us had to use some combination of klister. I thought I did rather well with the wax - with some advice from Goose. Everyone iced up as soon as they stepped out of the tracks or the tracks were washed out on a turn. I did one face plant, but saw lots of other skiers do the same. Mrs. Huet did well on our wax job too. Our skis were good in lots of sections and absolute dogs in a few. Those who had the resources must have had covers for their grip zones judging by the glide the had regardless of whether they were in the tracks or not, but they were also kick ass skiers. It's humbling when some of the older group who started 5 minutes behind you start passing you at the 1/2 mark! Also inspiring :). There were lots of 70+, and 80+ skiers. It was a fun course and a good day overall. Looking forward to tomorrow. Now that we've finally cleaned all the klister off our skis, and hands, and bags, and the car, and coats... we can start on tomorrow's skate skis.
