classic ski (Highlands) 2:30:00 [3] 30.0 km (5:00 / km)

Had intended to put in a long skate day but classic skiing with a group seemed more appealing than skating alone. It was pretty chilly too and there were freshly set tracks so it was ideal for classic. Momma Winterhalt, Sue L. , Louie and Celine are all strong classic skiers and they like to go at a steady not-slow pace. It was perfect for me. Celine and Louie are training for the Gatineau 51 km classic so they were happy to ski EFI plus a few more loops. It was a great ski and we even got some sunshine to start:)

skate ski (Highlands) 2:05:00 [3] 28.0 km (4:28 / km)

Switched to skate after lunch and an attempt to dry my soaking wet gloves. They didn't dry however and this became problematic. I set off at a decent pace to do the full red and worked at high intensity for about 7-8 km, particularly out the back red and down to the glacier. I stopped for a drink there and my fingers started to freeze up. I began a second loop but was really suffering despite arm circles, blowing into my gloves, skiing legs only etc. Eventually they were bearable but it did make it less-than-enjoyable for a while to do the distance I was aiming for. It was a long day but other than the fingers, very good. And it snowed a fair bit so tomorrow should be nice too.
