classic ski (Albion Hills) 2:00:00 [3] 15.0 km (8:00 / km)
Oh man I love skiing:)
Last night's temps were -16 or so, so I thought the conditions for skiing where there's no grooming would be better today - and they were!! I went to Palgrave to see how Albion Hills' trails were and then if they were bad I'd try the rail trail. But I had an awesome, beautiful kick-in-my-own tracks ski wherever I felt like going. in Albion. There were some walkers' tracks, some ski tracks in spots, lots of animal tracks, and in some sections I was the first to make tracks. The snow was fantastic everywhere. Enough cover to not hit grass/dirt, but not so much that it was like wading shin-deep. The slushy stuff underneath must have frozen hard last night and set up a great base for the snow on top which was dry and satiny. Sweeeet just by luck conditions. Such a pleasant surprise and I had a big smile on for 2 hours:) I could take this weather until the end of March.
