hiking (Singhampton Caves) 2:20:00 [3] 11.0 km (12:44 / km)

Goose had a grand plan for a day of activity near Collingwood. We started by dropping off our bikes at Highlands and then parking at the Pretty River snowmobile lot. It had rained heavily at home with thunderstorms last night but they missed this area. It was grey and damp but not too wet. We hiked, and jogged some sections, of the now open Bruce Trail up and up, then and took the side rail to the Standing Rock and Caves. So cool. Literally. There was a thick layer of snow there and quite a bit of slippery ice in the cracks where the trail goes. Bit dicey. Then we continued south and over 91 where we then bushwhacked a bit to get onto the Highlands Millenium Loop and took the ski trail down to the chalet. Very nice hike
12 PM

cycling (road) 25:00 [3] 10.0 km (2:30 / km)

From Highlands we road pretty much all downhill back to the car into a cool headwind off the lake but it was good.
2 PM

canoeing (Beaver River) 2:30:00 [3] 18.0 km (8:20 / km)

We drove to Heathcote and locked up the bikes then drove upriver to Kimberley to the put-in. We paddled steadily, under bright blue skies and saw and heard so many birds, including a rare sighting of a night heron. I've never seen one up close anyway. This one was right at water level on a log and very beautiful. We saw several egrets and herons, muskrats, and even the resident beaver back at the put-in afterward when we picked up the car. It was so peaceful and pretty. Saw a few kayakers near Epping and one at Heathcote but that was it for humans.
5 PM

cycling (road) 35:00 [3] 12.0 km (2:55 / km)

From Heathcote we cycled back up to Kimberley to get the car and had a nice swim. It was a nice ride because the wind was at our backs off the lake:)
8 PM

cycling (bike trails) 1:00:00 [3] 19.0 km (3:09 / km)

Stopped to say hi to friends in Collingwood after we managed to find somewhere to order fish and chips from for supper. They wanted to take us for a tour of the bike trails since it was such a beautiful evening and they had worked all day. We were diligent about staying spread out and we had a gorgeous tour of Collingwood along the pier, the lakeshore, then up the rail trail and around the outskirts. It was all flat and we had a nice chat. Very civilized :)

Deed:
- dropped off lasagna and baked goodies to Kelly and Chanse in Duntroon
