Mother's Day paddle on the Beaver with Goose:)
Bright blue sunny morning but it started to get overcast about noon. Not quite warm but nice. Saw a few early egrets, herons, the bald eagle guarding her nest with a head poking up, a couple of muskrats, a beaver, lots of very active swallows feverishly diving for water bugs, and curiously a beautiful bat doing the same thing.
Went upriver from Epping Bridge to just past the Kimberly put-in with a bit of a tailwind, then back down. Which felt much cooler. We were faster but still had to work into the slight headwind but it was cold air off the bay. We were a bit chilled when we finished, and famished. We had intended to go just until there were too many log jams for a our light boat, thinkng that would be somewhere up from the 5 or 6 km point - but there were none all the way up the 11km to Kimberley so it was a bit of an endurance event. Long but lovely.
