cycling (paved/gravel road) 2:30:00 [3] 52.0 km (2:53 / km)

An unbelievable beautiful, clear calm day. Goose and I drove up to Lion's Head and left the car there. Rode bikes along Isthmus Bay and up the Bruce Peninsula along the water on the east side for a bit then we were inland. He turned off at Cape Chin Rd. North to rendevous with Hermes for the final 30 km of her 80 km run down from Tobermory. I carried on up the peninsula to get her car in Tobermory and drive it back down. I was on hwy.6 for the last half of my ride and it was pretty deserted. So strangely quiet and almost abandoned. I saw maybe 25 cars spread over 11/2 hrs. It was very smooth, rolling riding and uneventful - until I got to Tobermory and discovered the kids' carseats were both bolted down tight. I could not budge them. And even with my front wheel off there was no way my bike was going to fit into the back. I was cursing, out loud as I wrestled with the bike when out of the blue I heard 'Hey Sian, what are you doing up here?" And there were Mr. and Mrs. Noshnoj on their way back from their run on the Bruce with Mrs. Gally:).
Like angels sent to save me they just suddenly appeared and offered to put my bike on their car rack and take it to Thornbury where I can pick it up tomorrow! After that I did my first lake "swim" of the season at Dunk's Bay and got an ice cream headache. It was frigid. Then shuttled Hermes' car back and we ordered take out Whitefish and chips to finish the day. Not a bad way to spend our anniversary!
