trail Run long (Fall 50 Festival) 1:24:00 [3] 11.2 km (7:30 / km)

Well it was the 7th edition of the Fall 50 and a wonderful day :). Rain overnight washed the sky clean and it was fresh morning with wind building. There were still some grey clouds scudding across the sky but we had lots of sunshine for the first run section. Not everyone was up for the full course except Crash, but everyone did some of it. She (and Skye) led Mr. Huey and me on a Palgrave tour of the Wheelwright Woods and then a big loop of the Palgrave Conservation area. It was absolutely gorgeous and just the right pace, ie. old lady/birthday girl's pace. We finished at Sarah's and met her friend Bernie, as well as Goose there.

mtbike long (Fall 50 Festival) 2:15:00 [3] 38.0 km (3:33 / km)

Mike couldn't bike so he drove home to Caledon East. Goose, Bernie, Crash and I rode into a stiffening west wind on the rail trail to the Huets' house where we enjoyed Mrs. Huey's freshly baked pumpkin muffins before heading back, much more quickly with a nice tail wind, on the rail trail to Albion Hills. Since Goose was only given the go ahead to start riding again last week he left us and drove home while we continued through Albion. Chris and I stuck to the ski trails while Crash and Bernie did a few single track loops in the northeast hardwood section. Again, gorgeous! Conditions were really quite good considering the rain last night. The carpet of leaves was a bit thick and slick but it wasn't really muddy. Once in a while a small pile of grey clouds would blow over and we'd get a bit of rain but then it would clear again. The wind was quite strong when we hit the newly paved Duffy's Lane and we were blown south to Bolton in no time. Fun ride :)

canoeing long (Fall 50 Festival) 1:30:00 [3] 7.5 km (12:00 / km)

Bash and Bent, and Mike, met us at our house for the final leg on the river. We piled into the canoes to paddle downriver to Goose's parents' place, but it was so pleasant it just seemed a shame not to go further. So the gallant Goose offered to run (and he only just started running again last week) home and get a car while we continued paddling to the next take-out at the Burnt-down Bridge. It was very windy, and windy, with lots of riffles with rocks and gravel bars and downed trees we had to negotiate, but it was really nice - until we had to portage the heavy ABS pig-boats up the road-allowance. That part was not as nice for everyone but we did it. Then went and ate. A lot. Including: hearty chili, a big delicious salad by Bash and Bent, Chris and Mike's tasty carrot soup, and yummy birthday cake thanks to Crash :). I love having friends who will humour me and trundle about outside with me on trails and water - and then eat. It was another fun fall 50 (56 actually) festival (yes Phatty it was a festival, not a race - until we got to the poetry).

cycling (road) 50:00 [3] 17.0 km (2:56 / km)

Flat, grey fall day, but not very cold. Got out late, my only window today, for a quick ride up Duffy's, Castlederg, Mt. Hope and home before the rain came. Felt about 100x better than I did yesterday.

Note

Worst headache of my life today. Not sure what the actual criteria is for a migraine but I was flattened, except for when I was wretching. I spent much of the day on the floor in the gym changeroom. I feel for people who do get migraines regularly.
