classic ski (ladies' day) 2:00:00 [1]

Skiing in the rain, just skiing in the rain...
It was soggy, but surprisingly not sticky this morning at Highlands. I wouldn't have gone up in the fog and steady rain if I hadn't committed to insructing at the annual Ladies' Day. But I had a great day - but it was wet.
I had two stalwart ladies in their 60s to start - we were soaked in seconds, their glasses were all fogged up, but did they complain? Nope, just smiled and learned how to glide. After drills, we skied the green trail. Same with the next two. They were awesome.
After a wonderful lunch we went out and did the same on skate skis.

skate ski (ladies' day) 2:00:00 [3]

By the time I went out with the last group the rain had turned quite suddenly to snow and there was a howling wind. It slowed down the skiing but it was so nice to see SNOW!! Fun day.
Outdoors mama - you will definitely have snow tomorrow if you can get to Highlands.

run (road) hills (Glasgow Rd. hill) 45:00 [5] 5.0 km (9:00 / km)

Yuck - rain. Made most of the little snow we had disappear, and there was fog all day. And drizzle, just enough to coat the remains of ice-snow on the trail - with a glaze. I stayed on the road , jogged 10 min to warm up and then repeated Glasgow Rd. hill 3 times, @ 2:30 min. Then did 6 x 40 sec/ up hill sprints.

skate ski (school practice) 3:00:00 [3] 15.0 mi (12:00 / mi)

Hosted our regional novice high school day today up at Highlands. Lovely day, not very cold, no wind, some sunshine, great snow conditions and keen kids. We had a great morning lesson - about 10 kids per group. Mine managed to learn enough to get up the escarpment before lunch and were pretty chuffed :). We skied about a 5 km loop in total, but then I "had" to ski it again because a girl lost a mitt. Such hardship.
We did a short race and relays after lunch which were awesome, and still had time to finish with a nice 40 minute steady ski. Too bad it's supposed to rain tonight :(

dance (zumba) 2:00:00 [3]

Guest instructor - pretty vigorous Zumba :)
12 PM

skate ski (school field) 40:00 [3] 4.0 km (10:00 / km)

Went out on the field at lunch for a few laps to check out the snow for practice. It's just a thin crust but it's pretty good since it's stayed cold and dry.

circuit (class) 20:00 [3]

circuit x 1 class
1 PM

dance (belly dancing) 1:45:00 [3]

Belly dancing with guest instructor - fun and lots of core work. I'm sore.
3 PM

skate ski (school field) 1:20:00 [3] 7.0 km (11:26 / km)

Finally! A cold crisp winter day, with sunshine, but also brisk wind so minus
10-ish felt even chillier. Harps must be loving it.
Skied around the school fields at lunch to scout the best route for practice after school.
We did a warm up lap
- 10 minutes of double poling (which is killing my wrist and thumbs!)
- legs only tag games
- one-skate work, a couple of laps
- starts
So good to get the kids on actual snow - not much, like 2cm of crust, but it was white and we were gliding :)
