classic ski (Highlands) 1:40:00 [3] 18.0 km (5:33 / km)

Hitched a ride up to Highlands with Bash and Bent early to try to catch the cooler temps before the southwind blew in the above freezing temps. And it was windy. Wheree the trail was protected there was some fresh snow and pretty good tracks, but other places were scoured a bit and there were some hard icy patches and places where the tracks were wiped out. Still, as Bent said, it was better than sitting at home with no snow.
Unfortunately we all skied alone, but I had a relatively good ski, slow, not great grip but excellent glide. First time out this season on my good classic skis. Crazy.

skate ski (Highlands) 40:00 [3] 9.0 km (4:27 / km)

Since my "Skiathlon" boots have seen about a million kms they are getting soft and sloppy. Which may have contributed to my bad wipeout last March. So. I let myself get talked into buying a new pair of skate boots - way too flashy for me but very comfy and wow, did they ever feel different, so stiff - I guess that's what carbon does to a boot. So I had to go try them out. Love'em so far.
Finished with a nice lunch and car ride home with Bash and Bent - thanks :)

classic ski (Gibson Lake) 40:00 [3] 6.0 km (6:40 / km)

Bright clear day, but bitter northwest winds - felt like winter : ) !!
Got out at lunch time - break from reports. Did 2 laps of Gibson Lake trying stay out of the wind. The recent rain, then dropping temps meant the marsh was frozen smooth and solid, with last night's 5cm snowfall on top. It was pretty sweet, but flat skiing.

skate ski (Gibson LAke) 45:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:00 / km)

After 2 fairly slow loops classic I switched to my revolutions and skated 3+ laps - nice gliding. I love snow.
Worked up an appetite for our Robbie Burns dinner - nothing like haggis, tatties and neeps and leek soup to warm the soul on a cold day :)

skate ski (Highands) 2:35:00 [4] 32.0 km (4:51 / km)

Exams have begun, so no classes. Headed up to Highlands after finishing narking - a lot. There was enough snow on the ice to make it smooth, but not particularly fast. I skied alone, happily at my pace, in my own world for 30 some km. It was awesome. Best ski so far this year - finally felt smooth.

classic ski (Albion Hills) 1:10:00 [3] 9.0 km (7:47 / km)

Another flat ski on a sweet soft crust, on top of ice on the marshes at the south end of Albion Hills. So peaceful, saw no one. Caught the last of the day's sunshine, and snuck in a few intervals on nice fast conditions. What a great way to finish the work day :). We need snow badly. I wish it weren't supposed to rain tonight.

classic ski (easy) 1:00:00 [3] 8.0 km (7:30 / km)

Went for a very flat and lovely ski around Gibson Lake (marsh) x 3 laps. No hills today :). It was awesome - a soft layer of a bit of fresh snow, on a crust, on smooth hard ice. Such easy skiing. It was so nice to do a glidey classic ski. No wind, and not cold.
3 PM

skate ski (easy) 50:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:33 / km)

More random meanderings around Gibson Lake on skate skis - all by myself just gliding along :)
