8 AM

trail Run (HV) 45:00 [3] 5.5 km (8:11 / km)

Gotta love trees - it was so nice under the canopy along the river this morning. Took Kato and Jamie on an adventure.
4 PM

mtbike (Albion) 1:20:00 [3]

Despite the dire warnings about the heat I had a nice ride in the trees at Albion. I didn't ride hard. I fell hard though - two big bruises and 2 sore thumbs/wrists.

5 AM

trail Run (Mew Lake) 30:00 [3] 4.0 km (7:30 / km)

Flat run around the Mew Lake airfield/blueberry patch just before dawn. Beautiful full moon still up, and so quiet. Magic. Then I picked more blueberries for pancakes with Wee, cousin K and Leanimal.
9 AM

hiking (Lookout trail) 45:00 [3]

Leanimal, Weeanimal and cousin K hiked up the Lookout Trail, slowly, had a peanut butter & jam sandwich while admiring the view from the top of the world and then tried to not wipe out too many times on the way down.
11 AM

canoeing (Kearney Lake) 30:00 [3] 3.0 km (10:00 / km)

Lots of to-ing and fro-ing with small children who wanted to try paddling - very cute and "messing about in boats" is a great way to spend a hot day :)
12 PM

swim (Kearney Lake) 10:00 [3] 0.5 km (20:00 / km)

To the island and back before packing up to leave - nothing nicer than swimming in a northern Ontario Lake (except maybe skinny dipping in one).

6 AM

canoeing (Kearney Lake) 40:00 [3] 4.0 km (10:00 / km)

Lap of the lake - with the mist ghosts swirling slowly then disappearing as the sun rose above the ridge and hit the water. Then a quick dip. No better way to start the day :). You just can't be in a bad mood if you can paddle before breakfast, and have the lake to yourself.
10 AM

canoeing (day trip) 3:00:00 [3]

Leanimal and I took Wee and cousin K down Lake of 2 Rivers, on the Madawaska to Pog, then portaged the dam into Whitefish. We paddled into Whitefish to find a nice rock to eat lunch on and have a small campfire in order to roast some marshmallow and make S'mores :). Bribery involving sugar is very effective for keeping 5-yeat-olds in a canoe for 3 hours - as long as the sugary treat is at the end.
4 PM

mtbike (rail trail) 35:00 [3] 8.0 km (4:23 / km)

The original plan was for Leanimal to run the rail trail back to Two Rivers beach to get the car we left there when we started our canoe trip. Problem was - yep, left the running shoes in the car. 8km in Birkenstocks was not going to be fun. My shoes were also back in the car. So Leanimal turned on her charm to ask the campers next to us if we could possibly borrow one of the 5 bikes the family had stacked under their trailer. They all had flats - except one. One that was more my size than Leanimal's. So I rode the rail trail on a snazzy single speed - with hot pink pedals and handle bars, flower decals and absolutely no oil. Luckily the rusty chain did not snap on me and I was able to fit the bike on top of the car seats with the handle bars hanging out the window.
9 PM

swim (Kearney Lake) 25:00 [3] 1.0 km (25:00 / km)

Such a nice swim tonight in silky smooth water. What a way to end the day. Too bad there were so many loud campers to ruin any chance of falling asleep, and staying asleep :(

Wednesday Jul 20, 2016 #

7 AM

swim (Orillia) 30:00 [3] 1.5 km (20:00 / km)

Glassy flat water lake this a.m. - cool air, warm water, not abreath of wind, no motor boats yet = perfect summer swimming conditions:). Swam down the shoreline and back so happily.
3 PM

canoeing (Kearney Lake) 1:20:00 [3]

Algonquin adventure with Leanimal and two 5-year-olds: Weeanimal, and her cousin K. Two trips around the lake - one with everyone when we arrived and one this evening solo to watch the pair of beavers.

7 AM

trail Run (HV trail) 50:00 [3] 6.5 km (7:42 / km)

Beautiful cool morning. Goose and I actually ran the trail together before the day got too hot. Then I dropped him off to catch his ride for the big adventure. Talk about 4 excited boys!

Monday Jul 18, 2016 #

canoeing (island lake) 45:00 [3] 5.0 km (9:00 / km)

Long day of moving furniture and painting with Tman away at camp. Goose and I went for a short but lovely evening paddle - faster than usual without the lazy lump we usually carry.

sand plyo (jumping, bounding) 40:00 [4]

Spent much of the gorgeous day sitting :(. Goose was off getting boats ready for the big expedition on the George River to Ungava Bay and Tman started camp today. So I drove to Belwood and spent 1 1/2 hours "registering"?!!? Not an efficient system.
It was cloudy and threatening rain by the time I got back. I ran around the park and then did jumping, bounding drills, and a fair few push ups in the sand at the beach vball courts. I'll be sore tomorrow.

3 sets of each, across the court (9m), run backwards back, 10 push ups after each set of 3:
- 2foot broad jumps/run backwards back x 3, 10 push ups
- 2-1-2 foot jumps x 3, backwards back, 10 push ups
- 1 foot hops x 3 each foot, """""""
- side slides acorss and back x 3, 10 push ups
- grapevine across and back x 3 , 10 push ups
- As, Bs, Cs across, backwards back, 10 push ups
- 10 x 1 side step block jumps x 3, 10 push ups
- 10 spike approaches x 3, 10 push ups
- 8 x spike, block jump, 10 p-ups
- 10 x 1 step lateral floor touch x 3, 10 p-ups
- bounding length of the court (18m) backwards back x 3, 10 p-ups
- sprinting length of the court, backwards back x 3, 10 p-ups

3 sets 10 bench blasts, 20 triceps dips
2 sets 10 side step ups, 20 dips
1 set 20 blast up/lower back down, 20 dips
jogged home with stops to pick plump juicy black raspberries :)
