cycling race (Mt. bike O) 1:30:00 [3]

Yesterday there were hordes of people on the trails at Albion, today just the crazy Mt. bike orienteering racers. We had the place to ourselves and it was awesome. Wet, slick, slippery, muddy, tricky but warm and the colours were amazing. I had a moment of dislexic panic and read my map upside down - wrong after the first control and went to novice control instead of following my original route plan. SO stupid. After that I was pretty good. I ran into Browner when we both bobbled at the same place then recovered together. We leapfrogged for a while with Crash close behind after she'd had to go back for a missed control. So the 3 of us were close through the northeast section. With 2 controls to go I gambled and tried a trail off the road up into the maze of one-way single track up on the hill north of the chalet as a short-cut. But it didn't pay off as I had no idea where I had come onto the trails. Ended up riding the entire section instead of the one loop, saw Crash up ahead and knew I'd lost the gamble. Then Stina appeared?!! I did eventually find the 2nd last control after passing Bent with the broken brake :(. In the end the better orienteerer won = Stina. Browner was ahead of me but missed the last turn to the last control so I finished behind Crash and Stina, with Browner next. We had a blast. It was a challenging but fun course - plenty of hills! Thx Bash, and the STARS!

cycling (mtbike) 2:00:00 [3]

Such a beauty day again!! Harps must be soooo happy.
Took an old mt.bike O map up to Albion to try out my map board, my once-a-year orienteering skills and my sore ankle. The map board and ankle were pretty good and in my mind I found all the controls from 2 years ago:)
It was sure nice to be out today. So colourful and so pleasant a temperature. Lots of people were in Albion Hills - many hiking on the single track with toddlers and dogs etc. and a large group of somewhat elderly Asain hikers in full regalia, with poles, were bushwhacking. Not sure why, or where they were headed. Maybe they were in a hurry and were taking a shortcut - but it wasn't toward the parking lot. Or maybe they were just enjoying the beautiful trees like I was. My ankle is very sore now but I'll try the Bike O tomorrow.

cycling (road) 50:00 [3] 18.0 km (2:47 / km)

Yet another awesome autumn day today. Gorgeous lunch hour ride on Caledon country roads - enjoying that hard-to-describe pinky-reddish-orange colour unique to sugar maples in their fiery fall splendour, against the clear true blue of a crisp October sky.. As Hermes might say "magical". So nice to get outside:)

cycling (road) 30:00 [3] 12.0 km (2:30 / km)

Another beautiful fall day, but only a short ride. The swelling in the ankle has gone down, but it's very colourful and sore still. Goose and I took Tman to the Wiggles Concert in Brampton tonight. He was stoked!! So was Goose:)

circuit (classes) 45:00 [3]

circuit x 3 classes, st. bike instead of running since the ankle is still pretty swollen.

cycling (road) 30:00 [3] 12.0 km (2:30 / km)

Only a small window at lunch but even only 1/2 hour outside on another fine fall day with the nearby hills ablaze with fall colours is better than 1/2 hour spent sitting at a computer or desk.

cycling (rail trail) 1:00:00 [3] 21.0 km (2:51 / km)

It was such a fab fall day I decided I had to try biking so I could get out. Once I got on the bike my ankle didn't hurt at all - provided I didn't put much pressure on that foot, so I rode the rail trail from Palgrave to Cal. East and back. Clear cobalt sky, full fall colours, no wind, cool temp. - just an all around awesome autumn day in Ontario :). We are so lucky to live here, especially at this time of year. Plus: No roofs blowing off, no storm surges flooding our homes, no evacuations., I'm pretty thankful today. I can't imagine being on the eastern seaboard or Caribbean right now :(

canoeing (Island Lake) 1:20:00 [3]

Goose and I paddled our prince Tman around what is left of Island Lake - man is it low!! Hardly a breath of wind today - the glassiest the water has been all season, and the colours were gorgeous around the lake. Lots of water fowl still, and a lot of herons happily fishing in the shallow shoreline. So great to be outside today.
