mtbike (Fall 50 Festival) 3:50:00 [3] 50.0 km (4:36 / km)
Another beauty day!! Just gorgeous for the Fall 50. We departed (sadly without Goose) from the Huet's and road rail trail and Centreville Creek up to Coolihan's where BGY and Manisa live. It's a very hilly route so it was work but it was an awesome morning of clear blue skies and cool but not freezing. We rode just long enough to earn a snack: Manisa's homemade wontons with shrimp and veggies. Soooo good, fresh out of the oil :) Goose did join us there for the snack and then the hike. We're too old and creaky and injured to actually run this year but we did do about a 7km hike meandering through the woods and fields near BGY's and back onto the Bruce Sidetrail - very, very beautiful scenery. The yellows are still so sunny and bright on the maples and beech trees.
We got back on the bikes and headed back down Centreville to Finnerty and across to Bash's and Bentt's where we dropped Bash for doggie care dutires. the rest of continued on their trails to Crash's. She was with us so she needed to let out her dogs. And she had also very nicely baked us some trail treats: date squares to die for and chocolate chewies. Mmmmm.
Once again fortified, we rode south to Albion on Duffy's and split into 2 teams, boys and girls, to sort of do a portion of the STAR tracks mt. Bike O. (Phatty that was the "race" - I believe the girls won that). It was so pretty and the riding was great. From there we found a stashed snack of L-D cookies and cider and kept ourselves fueled for the final 10km on rail trail into Caledon East to the Huet's. Where yes, we ate again!
What an awesome birthday party:) Fun friends, riding and hiking through the Caledon countryside on a splendid sunny, warm November day Doesn't get better than that.
