When it's record-breaking warm temps in Feb. - might as well bike. Biked to school, then went out at lunch time for a nice ride. It was pretty windy though.

tabata (classes) 10:00 [5]

!/2 tabata actually. This fitness class - is not yet fit. They are in terrible shape so 1/2 a tabata was more than they could handle. We've got some work to do.

skate ski intervals (crust cruise) 1:00:00 [4] 12.0 km (5:00 / km)

Got up early to catch the crust again. It was colder (-8) and better this morning - a thin layer of crusty snow on re-frozen slush. Fast and fun . Did several intervals of about 400m and just flew around the south shore of Lake Vernon's north bay as the the day dawned. Sp pretty.
1 PM

skate ski (Parry Sound) 30:00 [3] 7.0 km (4:17 / km)

We drove over to Parry Sound this morning to avoid the insanity of Arrowhead. We took Tman early to Arrowhead for a walk/toboggan on the concrete hard snowshoe trail.- their much-touted skating trail doesn't open until 11 - when the hordes descend so we gave up and just walked. There were already a lot of cars lined up waiting to get in the gate when we left. Went for a ski on the Georgian Nordic trails in another day of brilliant sunshine, and it was MUCH quieter.

skate ski (lake) 30:00 [3]

Knew there'd be a crust this morning so I snuck out before everyone got up and skated on Lake Vernon near the rink. Decent crust and gorgeous foredawn light with an ethereal mist rising off the Big East. Beautiful. Worth getting up early for.
12 PM

classic ski (Fen Lake trails) 2:10:00 [3] 19.0 km (6:51 / km)

Goose did a skate at Arrowhead this early morning before the hordes descended . Didnt't hurt his head:)
Then we drove into Algonquin. I got dropped off at the West Gate to ski the Fen Lake trails while they went to the visitor centre. By then there was no crust, at +9. The trails are all classic there and it was track set a few days ago, but they were still ok. Getting kind of dirty though. It was icy this morning but by the time I started my crowns were grabbing a softened track. There was still some glaze in shaded spots and I did a lot of double poling. It was new to me, very pretty and very peaceful especially the back loop where it looked like maybe only a couple of people had been. I had a lovely time but it'd be nice to ski with someone else sometimes.
