canoeing (Beaver River) 3:00:00 [3] 19.0 km (9:28 / km)
A very easy meander down the Beaver with Pregasaurus Rex (aka. Hermes) and Mud Hero Man. It was a very grey day but not particularly threatening in the Beaver Valley. We risked it despite the forecast and had a few gentle sprinkles but really didn't get wet - well except for me when I fell in trying to get out over a log with a bad knee. Warm day though so it was quite pleasant We enjoyed a floating lunch - finishing with delicious butter tarts provided by Hermes from the Heathcote Bakery - and they even had raisins!! It was such a nice day - but apparently it stormed everywhere else.
Heat warnings in the GTA so Goose Tman and I headed north with the canoe. Paddled in very windy conditions on Kempenfelt Bay but it was lovely. Did a quick dip - the water was ice-cream-headache cold.
canoeing (Midland) 1:40:00 [3]
After s DQ cone in Barrie on a summer Sunday we decided it was too nice to head home so soon so we drove on to Midland and paddled along the shore there. It was was less windy but the water was just as frigid when we stopped at a small beach for a swim. Felt so good to swim in a lake again though. :)
