classic ski (Highlands) 2:30:00 [3] 30.0 km (5:00 / km)

Had intended to put in a long skate day but classic skiing with a group seemed more appealing than skating alone. It was pretty chilly too and there were freshly set tracks so it was ideal for classic. Momma Winterhalt, Sue L. , Louie and Celine are all strong classic skiers and they like to go at a steady not-slow pace. It was perfect for me. Celine and Louie are training for the Gatineau 51 km classic so they were happy to ski EFI plus a few more loops. It was a great ski and we even got some sunshine to start:)

skate ski (Highlands) 2:05:00 [3] 28.0 km (4:28 / km)

Switched to skate after lunch and an attempt to dry my soaking wet gloves. They didn't dry however and this became problematic. I set off at a decent pace to do the full red and worked at high intensity for about 7-8 km, particularly out the back red and down to the glacier. I stopped for a drink there and my fingers started to freeze up. I began a second loop but was really suffering despite arm circles, blowing into my gloves, skiing legs only etc. Eventually they were bearable but it did make it less-than-enjoyable for a while to do the distance I was aiming for. It was a long day but other than the fingers, very good. And it snowed a fair bit so tomorrow should be nice too.

classic ski (Scenic Caves) 2:10:00 [3] 21.0 km (6:11 / km)

Crazy weather day. Heavy snow, mashed potatoes on the roads, whiteouts in and north of London, then clear blue sky no sign of any snow fall near Mitchell to Flesherton, then more squalls and poor visibility as we neared Collingwood. Goose and I stopped at Bash's new place and had lunch before heading over to Scenic Caves for a very beautiful, scenic, classic loop of all that was open. We met Bash and Bent after that for another loop. Lovely:)
Dinner at the Fish Bar was an excellent way to end the day.

classic ski (park) 40:00 [2] 5.0 km (8:00 / km)

Between appointments, around the park loop and upriver a bit. I need some hills, with snow.

classic ski (park) 45:00 [3]

Such a beautiful bright blue morning with fresh snow begging to be skied on - I had to get out. It was just enough to classic ski on my rock Crown skis. Looped around the park and up the river a bit. So pretty. You just can't be in a bad mood if you start the day with a sunny ski on fresh snow:)

classic ski (park) 40:00 [3]

It was too nice rout not to go again after a meeting about Tman, and a dentist app't wrestling with Tman to keep him in the chair. Such a gorgeous winter day out there.

skate ski (park) 45:00 [3]

It looked so nice out after a day of steady soft fine snow so i threw on the old Revolutions to try a ski in the park. O sort of skated for a bit but after 2 face plants when I hit dirt or rocks I decided to just double pole. It worked quite well as the park is flat and there was just enough snow. It seemed so light out too. I didn't need a light . I just happily glided around the park 3 times in the sparkly snow:)

skate ski (Highlands) 1:30:00 [2] 18.0 km (5:00 / km)

Up to Highlands into very grey flat light, and super sketchy icy conditions. It was not sweet skiing but up top there was enough to get a decent ski in. Down form Larry's glacier and the hairpin were pretty treacherous. It was fairly fast but I was going easy due to a bit of a cold, a fair bit of haggis and shortbread etc. in the belly from our Robbie Burns dinner, and trying not to wipe-out. Jackrabbit class with 4 yr-olds this afternoon took required creative use of 100m of sugary ice balls. A lot of Bambis today!
