Saturday Feb 17 #

10 AM

skate (Canal) 1:20:00 [3] 7.0 km (11:26 / km)

Such an all-Ottawa morning!! Brilliant sunshine after -20 overnight. The canal was flooded and hardened nicely and the temps rose all day. Everyone on the canal was happy. So many smiling, happy skaters!

Friday Feb 16 #

3 PM

skate ski (Gatineau) 1:20:00 [3] 16.0 km (5:00 / km)

Scouting ski to check out the trails and make sure Mrs. Huet doesn't get off course this year in the 27 km race. Beautiful day, sweet sunshine and snow that survived the thaw. It'll be even better when it gets groomed.

Wednesday Feb 14 #

10 AM

skate ski (Mono) 2:30:00 [3] 30.0 km (5:00 / km)

Nice spring-like day - clear and bright. Got out for one more distance ski before Gatineau. 4+ loops of Mono in excellent conditions - until about noon when there were a few soggy, sticky spots in the sun. I definitely got the best part of the day for skiing:)

Tuesday Feb 13 #

11 AM

skate ski (coaching) 2:00:00 [3]

Lots of "coaching" intervals again today. It was a smaller race so that meant I had to ski faster to catch my kids in different spots! It was such a pleasure to be out on snow today! Such perfect conditions. Brilliant sunshine, lots of snow with bits of ice flakes mixed in that made for dazzling scenery and FAST skiing. The kids did great:) - 3 were ropssaa champs!

Monday Feb 12 #

11 AM

classic ski (river) 30:00 [2]

Alternately crusty then slushy on the river today. Not the smoothest ski but it was a beautiful day.

Sunday Feb 11 #

10 AM

skate ski warm up/down (Suntrail Special) 50:00 [3] 8.0 km (6:15 / km)

Pre-ski/warm-up and a cool down ski afterward.
11 AM

skate ski race (Suntrail Special) 28:00 [5] 7.5 km (3:44 / km)

Skate race in Hepworth. A lot of snow:). Not great driving and not super fast skiing, but lovely trails. I felt good but Mrs. Huet smoked me, as did those young whipper-snappers in their 40s. Somehow with the age handicap I made the podium. It was fun as always. Such nice people who run that club and event. The drive back wasn't that nice.
