canoeing (Island Lake) 1:30:00 [3] 9.0 km (10:00 / km)

Got over to Island lLake early and put in on the north side near the rowing club. With the exception of the Huets rowing at the west end, I had the lake to myself for a while. I headed down the east arm to start and saw only herons, the pair of loons , ducks, an Osprey and turtle beaks. And the lake was calm. It was lovely. Then I headed back past the dock into the west end and the fishing boats were all going out. I love soloing the Red Rocket.
1 PM

canoeing (Beaver River) 1:05:00 [3] 6.0 km (10:50 / km)

Since I am the "mule" for Phatty's and Leanimal's borrowed AR equipment I made a run up to Thornbury to collect lights and batteries to take to France next week. So I stopped at Epping and paddled up river for 40 min. following 3 absolutely spectacular snow white Egrets with elegant black legs. They were gorgeous. There were also several Great Blue Herons, 2 were massive herons that were very dark in colour. I watched Kingfishers diving- very cool. Then I paddled back down river - a little faster - and had a quick dip before visiting Hermes and Hanky-Wanky on my mission to collect as many heavy black items with wires attached as possible to put in my carry-on baggage:).

trail Run (Bruce Trail) 56:00 [3] 8.0 km (7:00 / km)

Ran in the Dingle, from the top of Innis Lake Rd. to Coolihan's on the Bruce Trail. Gotta love trees. It was so nice and shady and cool under all those trees :). Had to walk the downs to save my knees but otherwise jogged slowly but steadily .
1 PM

swim (Quarry) 30:00 [3] 1.5 km (20:00 / km)

Swam to the end of the buoys and back and then swam the square "lap". Nice temps again and easy swim conditions. Too bad it's only free for one more day.
2 PM

canoeing (quarry) 35:00 [3] 4.0 km (8:45 / km)

Soloed the Red Rocket on an exploratory lap of the quarry. It's a good size with random rusted out diggers and trucks and lots of working dump trucks going up and down great piles of sand and gravel. It looks a lot like a kid's sandbox on steroids. There was a bit of wind so I was glad I was at a quarry and had no problem finding a big slab of rock to put in my bow.

mtbike (road/trail) 2:00:00 [3] 35.0 km (3:26 / km)

The forecast said rain and thunderstorms today, the sky threatened all day - but not a drop around here. After spending way too long at the computer studying rules and taking the field hockey umpire exam I headed out under very grey skies - but nothing happened. Rode up Duffy's into Albion, did a few loops then found myself on the Wed. night series race course as it was about to start. Darn, didn't have my wallet. So I left the trails and headed out the north end onto the rail trail and then back home down Mt. Hope. Stayed dry unfortunately. We need rain!!

swim (swim) 22:00 [3] 1.0 km (22:00 / km)

We wanted to check out the quarry in Caledon for swimming. There is free swimming everyday 11:30-2:30 as part of a C3 promo till the end of this week.
It has been suggested by one of Goose's WT teammates that he may want to enter the Amphibious Challenge so he needed to see how he felt doing an open water swim. We swam to the end of the buoys and back. He had no problem. It was a good swim. Not very far - but not bad for his first real swim in a few years, and my first long-ish one since breaking ribs.

mtbike (Albion Hills) 1:55:00 [3] 30.0 km (3:50 / km)

After his hard work yesterday at the hands of Hansel, Goose needed to spin out the legs so we rode up to Albion for a bit of trail riding and then home again. It was not just a little spin for me however. I couldn't keep up with Goose. Now that he's in training for WT. It was a good ride though, on a nice summer day:)
7 PM

canoeing (Island Lake) 1:05:00 [3] 7.0 km (9:17 / km)

It was such a still, soft summer night Goose and I took Pops for a paddle at Island Lake. I was solo in the Pocket Rocket (my favourite boat) while Goose sterned the big yellow pig with Pops in his camp chair on the bow. They were faster. I was close though. Did the east arm and then part of the west side as the sun actually popped out from under a cloud bank. Gorgeous gilt-edged sunset.

trail Run (HVtrail) 1:05:00 [3] 6.0 km (10:50 / km)

After much of a day spent sitting at a referee clinic I needed to move. Ran up the trail a bit then sprinted 5x 20 secs.up the hill up from the Enchanted Forest, 5 x 25 secs. up the new metal stairs, and 4 x 35 secs. up the hill to the works yard. Worked hard. Then made supper for the Girl who came home for one night after a month north of Thunder Bay guiding a canoe trip. Lucky girl.
