cycling (Annecy) 1:15:00 [3] 27.0 km (2:47 / km)

Got up before the wee ones and road a lot of uphills before I arrived at a ...
Reblochon fermiers:) It was closed so Ill have to go back but it was a logical place to turn around. I flew down and then headed out along the east side of the lake for a bit. Quite a cool morning until the sun finally got above the mountains., and lovely.
11 AM

swim (Lac Annecy) 16:00 [3] 0.8 km (20:00 / km)

Swam along the buoy line at the beach after Big E and Weeanimal had their swim. I was stopped by a lifeguard because they were starting a search for a missing kid!! They were on the megaphone recruiting anyone on the beach willing to help and a whole crowd of adults were running into the water as I stood up. We were instructed to link elbows and started striding and swishing on the lifeguard's whistles. Yikes! It was all quite dramatic . We were looking for a 6-year-old. Thankfully the child was found up on land after a few minutes. And no, he wasn't one Grandma G. and I were supervising.

Note

Another gorgeous day in paradise. Took Big E for a long walk this morning, ,played n the park , got groceries etc. We all walked down to the lake for an afternoon swim. I managed to get in a 1/2 km after a million tosses of small bodies. Then Weeanimal and I did a wee bike ride this evening down along the lake. Magic.

trail Run (Annecy) 1:00:00 [3] 5.0 km (12:00 / km)

Arrived in France 2 days ago but only felt up to exercising today. Yesterday was a full on soaker, with some thunderstorms and winds after a month of searing heat. It's dry here and slightly brown. I took the trail from the end of Leanimal's and Phatty's street but it was really hiking not running until I got onto the trail across to the Talabar. And even after heavy rain for a full day yesterday there was no mud, no sign it had rained. The view was beautiful of course from the prés at the stone cottage. The lake was it's gorgeous turquoise under a fresh, rain-washed blue sky ringed by spectacular mountains. Such a chore to have to come here:)
3 PM

cycling (Annecy) 2:20:00 [3] 55.0 km (2:33 / km)

Phatty and Leanimal left for the Nordic Islands AR at midday. It was like magic seeing all their gear spread all over the living room-dining room for the past few days, disappear into bags and boxes. Hopefully it all got to Stockholm, unlike Harps' stuff. His bike, and all the gear stuffed into his bike box (i.e.. helmet, shoes, paddles, wetsuit etc.) did not arrive in Stockholm with him. It got waylaid in Iceland, with the next flight to Stockholm leaving Sunday. The day the race starts. After much frantic messaging and suggestions for where to rent/borrow stuff, the airline managed to get it onto a different carrier and it was supposed to arrive about 11 tonight. Must've been a fun day for Harps and his team:(.
I on the other hand enjoyed a lovely, flat ride around Lake Annecy on a glorious, sunny summer day. The trail was jam packed at this end but got quieter the further out I got. It was easy riding Leanimal's nice road bike. Kind of like riding Carbon's Offset's bike last year from Canmore to Banff:), Loved it.

trail Run (Albion Hills) 1:15:00 [3] 9.0 km (8:20 / km)

Decide I should see if I could "run" 9km, so I waited for the hottest, most humid day so far. Luckily Albion Hills has so many trees. I ran from the beach parking lot on the red ski trail over to the northeast trail under the hardwood canopy and back on some single track. It was so beautiful and cool under those magnificent trees I was inspired to poetry:)
Oh, oh, how I love trees!
and a pleasant gusty westerly breeze
with a cool pond, the heat to appease
on a hot summer day at 30 degrees
oh how I love air, water and trees!

I was slow but felt ok. Pretty sure I can swim as fast as I can run.

9 AM

mtbike (Albion Hills) 30:00 [3] 9.0 km (3:20 / km)

Cool down ride to check how far I ran. Didn't really "cool" me down but I did spin out my legs.
10 AM

swim (Albion Hills) 20:00 [3] 0.8 km (25:00 / km)

Hopped into the Albion Hills pool which is just deep enough to actually do front crawl (for me anyway) but not quite long enough to really swim. This really was a cool down. The water felt great and it wasn't too crowded yet to have to dodge bodies to swim back and forth for a bit.
Completed my personal Albion Hills triathlon.
