trail Run (Pacific Spirit Park) 1:00:00 [3] 8.0 km (7:30 / km)

We decide to do a run before going to the UBC Museum of Anthropology so we chose the trails in the endowment lands. Goose needed to test his new NorVan LDs. The trails are very groomed and tame there so it wasn't much of a test really but a pleasant place to run - through very tall trees, with a lot of professional dog-walkers. They were everywhere, some with 5 or 6 dogs, some on some off leash and all well-behaved and friendly. The dogs. And the walkers too.
We toured the museum, which is amazing, before heading down the 500 steps to Wreck Beach, a "clothing optional beach". And it had developed into a lovely warm afternoon, so there were definitely people down there who chose the option of not wearing any clothes. After short walk on the beach we
climbed back up the 500 stairs.

mtbike (road/trail) 2:00:00 [3] 28.0 km (4:17 / km)

Another beauty day and warmer. Goose and i went out to my friend's place in North Van to borrow bikes. We Headed up from her house to the new bridge and then up the Seymour River valley on a nice cruisy, rail trail -like double track for a while until we took a single track big climb up through the trees to the paved road. We rode the road to the dam and then back again and out to "End of the Line" cafe. A woman at the next table leaned over and said "Are you really going to eat ALL of that?!!" when Angus sat down with an enormous cinnamon bun. He did. Then we biked back to return the bikes. Such a nice day, such a fun ride:)

Note

Spent most of the day on Cathy and Kevin's 30-foot sailboat trying to find some wind and then practising tacking between Denman and Hornby Islands. It was sunny in the morning and then it got quite grey and foreboding and chilly! Fun day though :)

mtbike (Cumberland) 1:30:00 [3]

Kevin took Cathy, Goose and me out to the Cumberland mt. bike trails. He is a very skilled and experienced mt.biker who wears armour and loves downhill biking - on logs, over rocks, roots etc. Very steep downhills. I was ok going up - but he was waaaay out of our league going down. Cathy and I opted for a flatter route while Goose got dragged around more technical terrain . Fun.
5 PM

kayak (Point Holmes) 1:30:00 [3] 12.0 km (7:30 / km)

It was calm and warm this afternoon so the ocean called. Goose and I took the sea kayaks up the beach for quite a ways. Saw tons of sealife. So many seals basking on the rocks then plopping into the water, several sea lions resting on their backs with fins sticking up out of the water, and so many sea birds. It was awesome.
