Pops took his final breath just before 3:00 this morning, peacefully, holding Susie's hand. Goose and I did a wee paddle in his honour at Ken Whillans before going to Inglewood for the "leaving ceremony" at Bethell Hospice. Picked some water lilies to send on the stretcher as it left. The staff and family gathered for a short simple ceremony to say goodbye and one of the nurses's brought a paddle for Pops to take with him. I guess you get to know the staff when you stay for 3 months and get better, get kicked out and then come back.

Another ride to Inglewood to the hospice. It was supposed to be really hot but it was still cloudy and breezy and the rail trail is so well shaded it was fine. The another afternoon of sitting quietly watching Pops breathe and sleep peacefully and chatting with Susie.
Attempted to get out in the cool" of the morning, but it was pretty warm and muggy already, and then it rained. Which felt good.

After a grey humid rainy day spent at the hospice it cleared this evening and didn't seem so hot. Needed to get out. Rode Duffy's to Castlederg, Humber Station to Old Church across to Mt.hope and then som eloops in the subdivision because it was such a beautiful summer evening.

Nice fresh morning, and deliciously cool in the shade on the rail trail out to Bethell to visit Pops. I rode out while Goose drove his mom, and I went pretty hard. We tagged off and he rode home while I drove Susie back.
